Pandas are Polish?

Who knew?

Gpanda Aug 12th, 2008 08:07 AM

Pandas are international. We belong to the world. For better or worse.

That's more what we're looking for from you, Don.

rhkkmk Aug 12th, 2008 08:35 AM

pandas are pathetic....at least those who pretend to be panda-like...

Gpanda Aug 12th, 2008 08:43 AM

Cute, friendly, effervescent. What's not to like about Pandas. We're almost everybody's favorite. How else did I get the nickname?

rhkkmk Aug 12th, 2008 08:51 AM

we all like pandas, we just don't like pretenders

Bob, Andy et al.

Sorry I won't make the Boston GTG after all....When Thai Air changed my flights, I decided to stay in SEA a little longer. (That'll teach 'em!)

Won't be back in the states till October 16.

Look forward to hearing all about it!

Lori

Gpanda Aug 12th, 2008 12:38 PM

Say it ain't so Lo!

We'll keep an empty chair for you. We're already giving Dogster an in absentia award. Why not another absentee?

rhkkmk Aug 12th, 2008 08:41 PM

we will miss you lori....maybe next year....how about LA in march, '09??

bookchick Aug 14th, 2008 10:13 AM

Ahem...pandas are Romanian. See Bob's last European trip report for further details, listed under "bear".

LaurieCo, you should be Honorary Guest of Honor for Life because of the anecdote you'd regaled us with last year! And yes, I've never been to Asia, but keep getting invited to the Boston GTG (undoubtedly some clerical error on their part), so I keep attending.

I see Rizzuto's still in fine form!

Barring any unforeseen complications (I will have a set of scans scheduled sometime in the next month) I will see you there. And this year I'm actually bringing my own hair, because it grew in, although I do bear an uncanny resemblance to Harpo Marx now. I'm actually going to be back in Beantown next month for an appointment at Dana-Farber, so flying out again in a few weeks will "ease me" into autumn. (We Midwesterners usually head right from summer to winter, but if you don't blink and can actually experience autumn out here, the colors would rival the Berkshires.)

rhkkmk Aug 14th, 2008 08:43 PM

oh, we are looking for entertainment so harpo you're on...

rhkkmk Aug 18th, 2008 06:13 PM

we are anticipating changing the friday nite dinner to a different location, more in the boston tradition---FISH and SEAFOOD...

at tenobres' (sp) suggestion i have reserved a private room at Skipjack's on Needham Street in Newton MA for 7:30PM...this will be preceeded by nibbles and vino at rhk's house in Needham, MA... for those needing transportation Gpanda will come with an ambulance to pick you up....he bought one recently so that he could deceive his boss into thinking that he was bring in lots of business....he hires some person to drive it up and down the streets of salem ma thus allowing him to be seen chasing it and helping people as they are "hit" by another car which he also hires....unfortunately he also will be at my house....

Gpanda Aug 19th, 2008 01:40 AM

Don't worry. You will be able to purchase visas at the Needham border. Just bring two photos, $20 and a bushel of wheat.

rhkkmk Aug 19th, 2008 05:10 AM

we have raised the visa to $50 pp

marya_ Aug 19th, 2008 05:43 AM

Don't forget exit fees -- nice little revenue opportunity there.

Gpanda Aug 19th, 2008 03:34 PM

Why would anyone ever leave Needhasm? Not exactly a Mensa question.

rhkkmk Aug 19th, 2008 06:04 PM

i've not received many reservations??? where are the regulars?? not coming this year....

BostonHarbor Aug 23rd, 2008 03:48 PM

Hey, Bob. I'll be there. Sign me up for lunch and Similian. Gpanda's masterly mass ordering at Similan is renown--how could I miss?

Wouldn't skip the Boston GTG. Will we have a "LCUY is FREE" t-shirt prize?

rhkkmk Aug 23rd, 2008 04:56 PM

we will have lcuy in the flesh to celebrate!!!

a real celebrity instead of gpanda pretending himself to be famous....!!

rhkkmk Aug 23rd, 2008 04:57 PM

i just reread the opening line....of course it is being held in 2008, not 09!!! duh!!!

Gpanda Aug 24th, 2008 02:30 AM

Drat!. I was hoping we could slip by this year without the POB. Can you imagine his chagrin?
