Forgive him. Communication skills are not his strength. Unless you're a hotel manager or other person to whom he can suck up. Also, unsurprisingly enough, he's not an expert on brains.

(I can see I've been missing out here... glad I have time to catch up on my fodors reading!! lol)

Has a venue for this GTG been picked yet?

I vote for V9.

kuranosuke Feb 6th, 2008 02:37 PM

ah soo, v9, not v10. good choice.

rhkkmk Feb 6th, 2008 05:48 PM

rhkkmk Feb 6th, 2008 05:49 PM

rhkkmk Feb 7th, 2008 10:06 AM

v9 or maybe dim sum at the conrad??

anyone else in town...

may 3 might work best for us?? its a saturday

wolfmisc Feb 7th, 2008 11:02 AM

what about Bussaracum and washing food down with a good glass of French red at Sofitels V-9 afterwards? Both spots close to eachother.
May 3 no problem at all.

I'll be playing in a tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Found a really nice wine bar on soi 31. It has a cigar room upstairs. Maybe not good for a GTG group, but for a glass of wine, Cuban cigar, and bit of conversation and snacks, it might be good for a few people. It's called the Wine Loft.

It just opened in December. It is advertised in February's Bangkok 101 magazine. We decided to try it out. Good wine selection, and really quite reasonable.

rhkkmk Feb 7th, 2008 05:36 PM

another thing we might consider is a breakfast meeting....a fodors first??

Gpanda Feb 8th, 2008 11:05 AM

Bob at breakfast? The harsh glare of the morning sun will no doubt add to his inestimable aura.

simpsonc510 Feb 8th, 2008 04:18 PM

Breakfast sounds OK to me, but bradinbangkok doesn't like to get up early...

nor do i!!! just a suggestion...

simpsonc510 Feb 8th, 2008 06:18 PM

Bob
Brad tends to get up at the "crack of NOON" while in BKK... haha

An afternoon gathering, say at the Bamboo Bar at Oriental, would also be nice. Plenty of room, and usually quiet in the afternoon.

It's settled! Breakfast in Bob's suite at the Marriott, what time do you want us?

rhkkmk Feb 8th, 2008 06:33 PM

pook---anytime right after night caps at your place....hahaha

rhkkmk Feb 8th, 2008 06:39 PM

we actually would favor an afternoon drink type of thing....that is what we planned last year and would do it again...last year they decided to renovate the bar on us....so i moved it downstairs....it worked fine....we could do it there again or....

we did not really like the oriental bar...we went there with ken and andy and beth....actually the bar at the hilton would really be fun to use...the '360 bar'.....have any of you been there??....great views in the PM....not sure if it is open at that hour...i will check....V9 is a good idea as well but it is not open until evening...

pook hope you will be able to come also....don't forget our dinner too that week...would you have any other suggestions??

simpsonc510 Feb 8th, 2008 06:49 PM

I like the suggestion of the Hilton 360 bar. I've not been in that building at all. Sure had a nice view of it on the dinner cruise we did last night. Looks pretty neat.

How many do we think we might be? Just curious.
