I wish I knew how to put all the pretty flowers on the post, I would certainly give you a bouquet!! You were very kind to do that MichelleY. I will call them myself, when the times align. It is 7pm here and 1a.m. in California at the minute, and with me working full-time, it is trickier to get the time difference to work...but I will definitely try for the Lodge at the Falls, then the Mountain View as a back-up. I will let you all know.
Thanks everyone.... you're priceless.

HEY LADIES!! All booked! .2 nights at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls... for Jan 4-6th. I was able to do it online as their system is working just fine, as opposed to Mountain View's . How exciting!

Can't thank you all enough for your input... xx

Now I will look into the driving directions from San Fran, and all should be rosy.

In January I would consider taking 140 into the park. Comparatively speaking it is the "low road" and the road conditions have a better chance of being clear.

Yes, as explained a few times up thread.

From the Bay Area you will take 580 to 205 to 99South to Merced. From Merced it is 140 into Yosemite.

Terrific that you got into Yosemite Lodge! Just a wonderful location. And as I explained up thread, if there is a fair amount of snow and chains are required, you can park at Yosemite View ( or elsewhere in El Portal) and take a YARTS bus into the Valley. The bus has a stop right at Yosemite Lodge.

But the chances are it will be fine . . . And no matter the Valley will be gorgeous. If you are interested in skiing you can take a shuttle from the Lodge to the ski area. And there are the regular shuttles that take you everywhere in the Valley, so you won't have to drive around once you are at the Lodge.

And . . . If you decide to have a posh dinner at the Ahwahnee (truly gorgeous dining room) and are out after the last shuttle the hotel will call a shuttle for you - no charge.
