The air quality will not appreciably improve until the rains come I fear.
So while I truly love SKC I would skip it at this time.

Yes, I know the distance from Oakhurst to the Valley thank you, and yes, I have looked everywhere for places that fit my budget and have decent reviews. Oakhurst can accommodate two rooms for three nights at short notice for under $150/night.

A wrinkle popped up this morning. I awoke to a text from my travel companion saying she may want to cancel because of the fires. I thought we had agreed to go to the coast if the interior fires were too bad, but she's reading news that air everywhere in California is hazardous.

So now, I need her to tell me yes or no so I can move on with my plans. If I am solo, I may go to the east coast instead. It's so frustrating this close in to the departure date.

It hasn't been that bad in SF, and it is probably better farther down the coast toward Big Sur.
