Dallas/Fort Worth area for me, too. I was born and raised here, so it is home to me. I went out to West Texas for college, where I met my husband, who is from a small town on the US-Mexico border. I dragged my husband up here because we both could get a good job, and he loves it here! We love to visit other places, but for us, Texas will always be home.

Well what can I say, I was born in the burbs south of Midway airport in Chicago, I've lived either in the south-burbs or the city proper my whole life (I've been in the city 9 of the past 13 years, I took four years off to go to school at IU and travel a bit). I mainly stay because my family is here, and anywhere else I want to move it too expensive to afford.

Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I love the weather, beauty of the mountains and ocean, and the aloha spirit of the people here. As for housing and the cost of living, well that's another issue entirely, kind of the paradise tax we endure.

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico for the weather, low cost of living, and great ambiance at 6500 feet.
I certainly don't miss the high taxes, outrageous traffic and costly utilities after 25 years in Dallas.

Beautiful beach, mts. close by, fishing, kayaking, hiking, gorgeous rocky shore line, pristine coves, and everything is CLEAN! I like the Mainers' "common sense" approach to life.

Grew up in Northern Indiana, met the lovey after graduating from Purdue - moved to Indy for a 5 year stint then my husband got me tipsy on a good bottle of Chardonnay and I agreed to move to a little, bitty lake town in Michigan to buy a restaurant. 10 years later, we're still here - place will be paid off within 1 year and we'll start looking to purchase retirement land ~ Yipee!

I've lived in Ontario, Michigan, Indiana, Kansas, New Mexico, California, and now, Tulsa, OK. Each place has had pros and cons, but Tulsa is just about perfect for us during this stage of our lives. We have young kids, so we love the family-friendliness of Tulsa. It's a fairly small city with few traffic problems, but we still have the opera, ballet, symphony, world-class golf courses and great restaurants. The spring and fall are gorgeous here. We may end up back in San Diego after retirement, but there's no place I'd rather live right now.

Canada! Tolerance, wide open spaces, abundance of money and resources, beautiful scenic landscapes, low crime rates, excellent health care and PEACE.

ahnold, I would think over my selection of a place to live if I were you. The latest word out of Washington is that Ted Kennedy will be accused of treason and the Mass exodus will begin. Of course, as far as I'm concerned, they could shut down the whole state and no one would suffer much, except for those nasty liberals.

Born and raised in mid-Michigan. Stepdad was career Navy man, so moved to Southern California with family after high school. Married a New Orleans native, and after living there for a brief time, went back to Orange County, California, before moving back to my hometown 22 years ago.

Just retired after 21 years with our local Chamber of Commerce, and am enjoying the slow paced, small town living. We have community theatre, week-end festivals all summer, weekly concerts in the park, international tunnel boat races on the river, national BBQ cook-off (called the Pig Gig), a three day fireworks festival, an autumn wine walk, spring tour of old lumber baron's homes and many other annual events; not to mention that we're close enough to Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, and even Toronto when we want to spend time in a big city.

Coupled with family and friends (some from junior high days), and the beautiful areas of northern Michigan including Petoskey, Charlevoix, Mackinac Island, and Tahquamenon Falls, I feel I have everything I need. Travel may be my passion, but its always nice to come home!

Would I consider moving? Yes. I consider it every August. Fortunately, October arrives before I can pack my bags.

Cons: The hellish heat, lack of greenery, tourists (sorry), high property taxes.

Was born in Salem Oregon. Moved to the Bay Area when I was 10..job consideration for my dad. Lived there for 20 years. Was working for a flooring store in San Rafael and had bought a house in Novato..26,000, and just barely qualified. Makes ya' weep doesn't it? They opened a store in Reno and when it started taking me an hour or so to get from Novato to San Rafael every day and longer on Friday nights, and that was 30 years ago..I decided to transfer to Reno. I loved it then, except for the shopping. Shopping has since improved but now it's like a bedroom community of the Bay Area. It's getting a lot like what I left. But, I have my business established and am too close to retirement at this point. Retirment..who am I kidding?!! I like it here...the snow, the mountains, Tahoe etc. but it's really starting to get crowded. It used to take me 10 or 15 minutes to get almost anywhere and now it's a minimum of half an hour just to get across town.

Born and raised in Salem, OR also. We did a short stint in central WA, but Salem was home. After college, dh and I got married. He was career military so we have lived all over the country. Our last duty station was Seattle (home for him), but when he retired a year ago we moved back to Portland. We still have family here and so our only goal for retirement was to stay in the PNW. Thankfully it worked out and dh found a great job here. We hope to stay here for a long time, but who knows. At least with moving a lot I know that a move is not the end of the world (although sometimes it feels like it, lol!).

Born in NY, raised in NJ, moved to central VA about 7 years ago for my DH's job. The best move we ever made.Life was a little slower and much cheaper at the time. NJ, we couldn't afford to live this way there in a million years! Husband loves his job and I have lots of yankee(and a few southern)friends.

All you need is Hillary Clinton to relocate to your neighborhood to become a MA Governor before running for President. Maybe you could volunteer to be her campaign manager....LOL.......

my family all live in SW PA (Pittsburgh area, minus 1/2 dozen extended family members in Denver and San Diego. Family means more to me than complete strangers in other areas of the USA. Also, unlike other people who whine continuously about the winter weather I love all 4 seasons. Another good reason is that there is too much overpopulation in the South, TX and California which I want to avoid at all costs.

I live in Alexandria, Va, outside of Washington, DC. Moved here 6 years ago for a new job. I grew up on Long Island, and lived in CT while working in NYC before coming down here. I love DC as a city, but also love that it has so many parks, biking/hiking trails etc nearby (and Shenandoah's not too far). I'm one of those who loves both city life and nature, and I have both here. I just wish it was closer to the ocean...

My family is mostly in New England, so they are not too far. Another plus with this area: I met my future husband here! We're getting married in the spring. We talk about someday moving to NH (where he grew up and where my parents are now retired).
