I have just returned from Chicago and did a personal head-to-head comparison of Lou Malnati's vs. Giordano's pizzas (stuffed only).

The clear winner is Giordano's.
Malnati's crust is pitiful, though the pizza itself had a nicer appearance and I liked the whole slices of tomato on top. Good pizza, no question, and light years better than what I have available at home.

Giordano's crust, sauce, cheese and entire package is the best I've ever eaten.

So here's to GIORDANO'S!

StuckinSoCal Nov 3rd, 2002 05:51 PM

I'm agreeing with most everyone else.

GIORDANO'S!!!

I take the red-eye Thursday evening and you know where I'll be on Friday!!!

I just might get one to take back to LA, too!

Hey "stuck": if you ever get REALLY desperate for a Giordano's pie, they express ship them on ice anywhere in the country. Pretty expensive shipping...like $20 to the coast.
But, there are times....

LuvPizza Nov 4th, 2002 04:19 AM

Well Giordanos looks like the winner and they ship. So I places an order for two pizzas (total w/ shipping 71.14) this morning and they should be here tomorrow! I can't wait. Thanks for the replies.

Not to be a wet blanket, but a frozen pizza never tastes like a freshly made one.
I had a pizza delivered frozen once and it really was not a good representation of the fresh, best case scenario.
Just my 2 cents.

Giordano's Giordano's Giordano's!!!
Makes my mouth water!

LuvPizza Nov 6th, 2002 01:46 PM

Well it has arrived by Fedex and even just opening the box, it smells better than anything we can get here. Thanks again.

some F'in fool is writing message after message in response to his own message.

LuvPizza: don't cook it too quickly (to max the flavor and crust texture).
Tell us how it turned out!

Our vote goes to Biagio's Suparosa, (they used to be called Nancy's). They've won best stuffed pizza in Chicago many times, and were once featured on the Today Show as the best pizza in the U.S. Good Luck !

Sarah Nov 6th, 2002 10:24 PM

Try the new Chicago Deep Dish Pizaa from Pizza Hut. Y-U-M!

Jessie Nov 7th, 2002 09:20 AM

Hopefully Sarah is just kidding.
The cheese they use in those things is disgusting flavorless process stuff that ANY self respecting pizzeria in Chicago wouldn't use for lining the wastecans.

Gino's Gino's Gino's.

Dan Nov 22nd, 2002 05:41 AM
In order

1. Giordano's
2. Baccino's
3. Eduardo.s

Unfortunately all Giordano restaurants aren't the same. Some are better than others. Still #1 in my book.

If you want to know what a stuffed pizza is, and see a slice, go here:

http://www.zacharys.com/stuffedpizza.htm

Dan Nov 22nd, 2002 05:57 AM

LuvPizza kind of left us hanging. Where are you?

LuvPizza Nov 22nd, 2002 06:26 AM

I'm in cell block C6 in the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary.
But I love stuffed pizza and we don't get any here.
So I thought I'd just try to get some discussion going to stimulate my imagination.
Thanks for the good thoughts.
Peace everyone.

Who said frozen pizza doesn't make the grade? Phooey!

At Fresh Fields, buy Wolfgang's or American falt bread frozen pizzas.

Let it thaw, and then add good olive oil, red pepper flakes, anchovies, black olives, basal, onions, garlic, oregano, tomato paste or chopped tomatoes, parmegiano reggiano, salt and pepper, and cook that bad boy per instructions on the box.

You talk about something good - yummmmmm! You'' run back to the store for more.

LuvPizza Nov 22nd, 2002 07:34 AM

Hi,
I am the real "luvPizza" here! I ordered two of them - one cheese only and one with onion and mushrooms. We wanted to try sausage but they wont ship meat. They arrived without a problem and were still frozen. There was plenty of dry ice left for probably another day if I wasn't home the first time to sign for them. As so soon as you opened the box, it smelled great! So we invited a few friends over and did the mushroom and onion one first. It baked up pefectly. Didn't have a cardboard taste at all. We all loved it. A couple days later we tried the cheese one and it too was very, very good! Everyone is hooked on them so we have decided to once a month order a couple and everyone take turns paying for them. They were very good! Thanks for all the advice!
