Which one would you choose?

4 days in Montreal, Canada or Las Vegas in October.
I have been presented with this choice and who would I ask to help me with this decision, but my friends at Fodors.
So?

madge Sep 20th, 2002 04:40 PM

All other things being equal (price, etc.) I vote for LV.

Karnak Sep 20th, 2002 04:42 PM

Need to know:
1) budget
2) where you'd be staying
3) what you like to do on vacation
4) approx age
5) how much you've travelled
6) have you been to either before
7) where you live
for starters.

Example: if you live in Buffalo, are 75 years old, have been to Montreal 5 times and you hate the cold, I'm voting LV.
If you're from Southern California, have been to LV, never to Canada and you hate smoke and strip mall towns, I'm voting Montreal.

How about a few clues.
Can't read minds.

Jim Rosenberg Sep 20th, 2002 04:43 PM

Montreal. :o)

Dazed Sep 20th, 2002 04:45 PM

Sorry- not forcing you to be a mind reader:)
The choice would be which one would YOU make?
I have been to both many times.
The budget is nice.
We travel quite often.
I like both places.
Just can't make any decisions these days..need help! THanks:)
Dazed Sep 20th, 2002 04:46 PM

Jim, didn't you just move to Montreal?:)

Myopinion Sep 20th, 2002 05:04 PM

Well, since you asked - Montreal.

i love Sep 20th, 2002 05:13 PM

there is absolutely no decision needed at all! spent a week in montreal about 2 yrs. ago, and fell in love with the place - i'm still homesick for it!

Marti Sep 20th, 2002 05:17 PM

Montreal! Not a Vegas person at all, thanks. Just my .02 worth.

Marilyn Sep 20th, 2002 05:19 PM

Hate to gamble, find it depressing to watch other people gamble, not very interested in overblown, overhyped nightclub shows. Guess which one I'd choose? (Since you asked...)

dazed Sep 20th, 2002 07:08 PM

This is excellent, thank you very much:)
I agree about Montreal, French flavor is good, food is good, shopping, museums, lots to do.
But then LV is fantasy land, stay at the Bellagio, eat in some good restaurants, see a couple of shows, maybe a spa. See what I mean? Both have appeal.
If anyone has any other ideas, feel free. "As long as I'm asking":O)

Susan Sep 20th, 2002 07:32 PM

My opinion is, if you've been to both lots of times, go somewhere else, a place you've never been before!

dazed Sep 20th, 2002 07:53 PM

Susan,
that wasn't in the choice:)
If there were other choices, I might not have asked. This is it-Las Vegas or Montreal.
Thanks for the ideas, I appreciate your thoughts.

Mario Sep 20th, 2002 07:54 PM

Vegas Baby!!!

p. Sep 20th, 2002 07:56 PM

Montreal.. exchange rate is better, eh ?

dazed Sep 20th, 2002 07:58 PM

You might have a point there, percy:)

Susan Sep 20th, 2002 08:12 PM

Well, I've been to both also & since it's October, I would choose Montreal, nothing beats a crisp autumn day in the East! Have fun which everyway you go.

jan Sep 21st, 2002 04:53 AM

My Vote is VEGAS!!! One of my favorite vacation spots. October is a great time of year to go to Vegas.

Billy Sep 22nd, 2002 07:30 AM

My vote is Las Vegas. Never been to Montreal. Been to Toronto once. Nice city. Las Vegas is an adult disneyworld!!

Cindy Sep 22nd, 2002 10:59 AM

Las Vegas - yuk. Montreal - ho hum. Go to NYC.

Dazed Sep 22nd, 2002 12:23 PM

Cindy-
I agree about the NYC but that is where I live:)
Thank you all for your opinions. They are really all on the mark.
We have decided to make it Montreal. We will drive so we will enjoy the colors on the way through the Adirondacks, we are staying in a small boutique hotel that is very nice and will try some of the new better restaurants. And I will do a little (ok, a lot) of shopping.
Now I am thinking that California(SF) with a stop-over in Las Vegas, would be fun in the spring.
What do you think of that:)
