Personally, my vote would be to spend more time on Maui. Its such a fun atmosphere all over the island, and I found the beaches not quite as crowded as Waikiki.

I have to agree with the posters above who said that a week is too much time to spend on Oahu. I think you could see and cover a lot of ground in 3 or 4 days ... Maui is my personal favorite ... but Kauai and the Big Island are definitely worth seeing as well. Each of these islands are so different from each other. I would suggest 3 days on Oahu, 5 days on Maui and 3 on either Kauai or the Big Island. I've done this trip twice, once with Kauai and once with the B.I. and am so glad I got to see them all.

Yikes I don't know anyone that prefers Maui over Kauai or BI but a lot of different interest in this world.

AFter a week in Oahu, I think either Maui or Kauai would be wonderful, especially in October! Kauai is definitely more beautiful as far as a lush, tropical climate. There's absolutely no nightlife, but there are some good restaurants to explore. There's more "outdoorsy" things to do during the day like hiking and kiyaking.

Maui is also beautiful and tropical, but is by far more "touristy". There's more beachside activities going on like parasailing, snorkeling tours, scuba. In Maui it's easier to get around, you don't need a car if you're in Kaanapali or Lahaina.
Never been to the Main Island, but heard great things.
