I have a general question for you travelers?? <BR>How much money have you ever spent on a vacation? (most expensive) and where did you go?

Our most expensive vacation was in Orlando- WDW. We spent a total of $11,000 air/hotel, tickets, and spending money included... <BR>Had a wonderful time! Worth every penny!! Would do it again!

Dear no big deal, would you mind telling us how many days that included in WDW? And what property did you stay on? We're planning a trip there and I have less than 1/2 that budgeted! TIA!

Boston drained our pocket book. For one weekend with two nice dinners, we racked up $1200. not including airfare.

Our tickets for 2 for a 12 day Alaskan cruise, land, air trip in '90. Never regretted spending the money...probably close to $10,000 with all the extra side trips and meals off the ship.

Egypt and Israel for two, including coach airfare, for approximately three weeks - - - $12,000. We wanted to fly first class, but the airfare alone would have cost $14,000.

Dear TJ <BR> <BR>We were in Disney 10 days. Stayed at the Hilton in Downtown Disney. Beautiful hotel. They offer shuttle bus service to each theme park (except Universal).. We loved this hotel. Had a huge room.. Please note this price included roundtrip air/hotel, hopper passes to each theme park, rental car spending money/souvenirs & photos at each park for a family of 5. Food can be expensive in Disney especially if you <BR>eat at the 5 star dining places. We also went to Sea World, Island of Adventures and Universal Studios. Must do's!! TJ remember, it's all about what you want to spend/stay and time of year you go. On season or Off season. Check with your local travel agent. You can spend $500-$1000 or $5,000 depending on where you stay etc... All Star resorts located on site are inexpensive. $80.00 a night.. <BR>Good Luck!!

Geez to the first poster "X" you don't have to take things so personal. I do not see a problem with this question. Lilly may just want to know how much an average vacation may cost for her own reference. Just like the previous post last week about the election. Who did you vote for?? That could be taken as a personal issue..No one had a gripe about that! Take a Chill!! <BR>Anyways, Lilly the most money we've paid for a vacation was on a Grand Princess cruise this year. It cost us $8,000, air/cruise included..We went on a 12 day cruise. Had a Stateroom.

You idiots! This site is being mined by researchers, trolls, hackers etc. I seriously doubt Lily is interested in your travel budget as a referance. I smell a social scientist who is using you all for guinea pigs for her research.

I budget $1,000 per person, per week for any trip. That is for airfare, hotel, rental car, and food.

Well, I suppose you might look at safari vacations in Africa, and you'll find some fairly high expenses. Private lodges can run 1000-$1200 daily for two folks. Of course that includes everything. Perhaps you should change the question to what's the fastest you've ever spent money on pleasure. That might elicit some interesting responses. My sister threw an ongoing birthday party for her husband this year and dropped over $60,000 for four hours of party. But it was great. And she also took him to Paris on the Concorde (pre-crash, of course) and lodged him at a five star, the Athenium, I believe. She took him to three-stars nightly, including Alain Ducasse's place twice. I'd say for his birthday, including travel, she spent over $100,000 in a very brief period of time - about six days. All true!!! She purchased the Cheap Eats In Paris book, but probably left it at home.

Okay, "No Big Ddeal": you claim to have spent $11,000 at WDW, but your evidence seems a little shakey. I must say at the outset, I don't know why anyone in their right mind would claim to have dropped a bundle at the home of the Rat unless they actually had, or were losing their senses. So, I will assume you did. But how, I am wondering. It sounds like you stayed in a cheap hotel room - only $80 a night? You took the hopper - I assume you mean you rode in some type of Disney bus shaped like an animal, with the great unwashed. Why didn't you spring for limo servce? It also sounds like you probably had an all-you-can -eat provision so you could belly up to Big Boy's three times a day. Sounds like maybe you got some type of package that included everything in northern Fla. Those are usually pitched to the lower middle income brackets. All in all, No Big Deal may actually be the troll, giving us some hyped up fairy tale so we'll spill our guts about all the bread WE spent. Well, I hope so. Because 11 grand at WDW? If you did, then of course you would say it was worth every penny, and you'd jump at the opportunity to do it all over again. Sucker born every minute, I guess. Hmmmm - most disturbing.

We are going to New York for 5 nights in December and expect to spend just over $6,000. That's with our airfare, the best deal of the trip -- $181 each roundtrip from Florida. But doing seven shows (14 tickets at an average of $80 = $1120) and the best NICE hotel we could find in the theatre district at around $400 per night (plus the 13% taxes = $2260) and eating at very nice restaurants -- it always becomes the most expensive trip we do. <BR>I'm not complaining and of course we could cut some corners -- try to get half price tickets for the shows we want to see which would almost certainly not be available, eat at cheap restaurants instead of the great ones we've been reading about all year, and stay at a cheaper hotel, but when even the tacky Milford Plaza offers $349 as their lowest price during that time, we prefer to do things our way. And I know we will have a wonderful time.

First of all, Desholone, you must not travel much... I would like you to call HILTON RESORT (4 star hotel) in Downtown Disney and ask them if they have a room for $80.00 a night??? <BR>Hello, let me know if you find that kind of deal honey!!! Rooms run $200 or more a night?? Secondly, I said the ALL STAR RESORTS at Disney run around $80.00 - $100.00 a night. NOT the Disney Hilton in Downtown Disney where we stayed!! Third, Big Boy is NOT what I consider a 5 star dining restaurant. Have you been to Brown Derby, ate at Cinderalla's castle etc...and finally, the Hopper pass is a ticket that gets allows you to hop from park to park for a certain length of time. You can purchase 5 day, 6 day & 7 day hopper passes. Which are quite expensive!! ($250.00)per adult. Also the Disney Bus is a actual BUS (MOTOR COACH)!! Not an Animal shaped bus.. Before you critize people, why don't you investigate your facts a litte further. Or better yet, take a trip to WDW to see what it's about before critizing people.I guess some people are just jealous others have that kind of money to spend seeing the MOUSE!!!

I like to go to Vegas which is the most expensive trip for me. I've spent $2,500.00 in Vegas... I like to gamble.. Such a bad addiction..

Just curious, because some people say we spend to much money on vacations.. <BR>By the way to those who say I'm a researcher, hacker, troll, and travel agent If I was I wouldn't be here asking you all questions, about vacations, and costs. I would hope I know the answers to those questions myself.. I've posted on this forum before. (lots of time)

to GOL: no, they never get jumbled. Occupational habit, I guess, having been a theatre major, actor, direcor, etc. When we go to Niagra-on-the-Lake followed immediately by Stratford, Ontario we tend to see 16 shows in eight days. Guess that's a record for us. But each show is different. Do people who watch three or four TV shows in one evening get them all jumbled?

I don't know whether this is a joke or not, but I would never in a million years spend $11,000 going to WDW, even if I could afford it. I'm a bargain-hunter because that's the only way I can afford to travel, and it's fun to look for inexpensive ways to travel. It forces one to be resourceful and creative, and maybe more daring with no big $$$ safety net. Throwing around thousands of dollars like confetti seems really crass to me - but maybe I'm a little puritanical, or maybe just envious. Anyway, I've never found it necessary to spend a great amount of money on travel (and I realize "great amount" is a relative term). Let's just say that I never spend more than I can afford to pay off on my credit cards in one month.
