I've seen the KY state fair website. To those whove been there, is it all indoors? My only reference point is the Ohio State Fair which is mostly outdoors.

Let me recommend Dale Hollow Lake in Kentucky. It is beautiful and restful. You could rent a houseboat for a few days or a rustic cabin. Check out: http://www.dalehollow.com/marinas.htm

If you are in the Louisville area, you could head down to Lexington for a day or so. It's just a little over an hour from Louisville and there are plenty of horse related activities, including the Kentucky Horse Park,if that sort of thing interests you. If you plan to stay overnight in Lexington, you can get good deals on Priceline (I wouldn't bid lower than 3-stars). We stayed at the Hyatt in downtown Lexington this past Friday for $50. A helpful site for Lexington activities is www.visitlex.com.

Update:
I will definately be attending the KY fair around the 18th of Aug. Where's the best area to stay in? Louisville or north in Indiana? I will be researching this today, there are lots of choices from n.e. of the city along I71 to across the river in Indiana. Hopeing to keep costs to a minimum relatively speaking. |
