Where would you go for 10yr anniversary?

If you had to choose between Vegas or Florida beaches for your 10 year anniversary which would you say is more romantic? Me and a co-worker were having this debate at work?

IMHO..Florida is more romantic in the traditional since and yet I'd go to Vegas.

Neither-- we went to Montreal and it was wonderful. But that is a nonresponsive answer. If I had to pick, I'd go to Florida. Too many distractions in Vegas for the event being celebrated and the festivities inherent...((K))

Florida definitely. I don't think Las Vegas is one bit romantic. But then I was there with Mr. Romance and our son so it was hard to be romantic.

Two of my favorite romantic spots in Florida are the Don Cesar in St. Pete Beach, and the Tween Water Inn in Captiva (which is now recovering from Hurricane Charley). The beach is high romance, IMO.

Florida, a thousand times over. Nothing against Vegas, it's just honeymoon material, IMHO. Our 10-year is coming up next year, and I'm hoping for Italy myself.

shaz60 Sep 23rd, 2004 08:26 PM

I don't think either is very romantic. We went to Bermuda on our 10th anniversary and New Orleans on our 25th.

klw25 Sep 23rd, 2004 08:52 PM

Woops, I meant to say Vegas is NOT honeymoon material. Neither one would be my pick either, but if forced to choose, I'd say Florida, perhaps Key West.

klw25 Sep 23rd, 2004 08:52 PM

OK, I meant anniversary, not honeymoon. Time for bed...

lenleigh Sep 23rd, 2004 09:58 PM

I would say Florida hands down if that's your only choices. We went to the Keys for our honeymoon and it wasn't Hawaii but we had fun and loved the Seafood!

lenleigh Sep 23rd, 2004 09:59 PM

P.S. Florida had some beautiful sunsets when we were there!

Ann41 Sep 24th, 2004 03:15 AM

Completely depends on the couple.

And I never understand why people put so much emphasis on a location being romantic. Romance is up to the couple, not the location.

beachjaunt Sep 24th, 2004 06:15 AM

I actually went to Vegas on my ten- year anniversary (for the first time) and though I had a good time I wouldn't call it romantic. I would have chosen someplace else if I'd had the money but Vegas was a cheap quick getaway for us. Never been to Florida but would love the chance to visit one day and what could be more romantic than strolling down the beach while the sun sets?

Agree with Ann41, romance is up to the couple, not the location!!!!!!!!!!!!
Three years ago we stayed at home and my husband arranged the most romantic anniversary ever.

placeu2 Sep 24th, 2004 07:55 AM

Either would be fine locations IMHO. I had a very nice romantic dinner at sunset at the top of Binions. It is what you make of it.

J_Correa Sep 24th, 2004 08:00 AM

I'd choose Florida.

nytraveler Sep 24th, 2004 09:34 AM

IMHO Las Vegas is possibly the least romantic place on earth. If these are your only 2 choices - then FLA.

But for a big anniversary like that I would reco somewhere really romantic - Paris? Fiji? Hawaii? (Not my cup of tea but I know a lot of people love it.)

Or, a really sumptious place nearby (in a major city or resort).

lenleigh Sep 24th, 2004 02:27 PM

While I agree that it's more the couple that creates the romance I would say beach sunsets definitly sets the mood over flashing neon lights...

momotx Sep 24th, 2004 02:58 PM

Okay - this might sound weird, but my husband and I are going to Washington, DC to celebrate 10-yr wedding anniversary in November (actually the anniversary, itself, is next month). We've already been to Vegas, Hawaii, and Florida. It will actually be the first time both of us to visit our nation's capital, and we thought it would be fun to explore a new place (for us) together. Go figure!

Heartburn3 Sep 24th, 2004 05:02 PM

As others said, if the choice is only between Florida and Las Vegas, definitely FLORIDA. However, in Key West, I wouldn't be strolling down a romantic beach looking at the sunset, I'd be on a romantic sunset cruise! They usually serve champagne, beer & wine on the sailboats at sunset. And believe me, just about EVERY sunset in Key West is beautiful.

gyppielou Sep 24th, 2004 07:46 PM

I'm with Ann41! Good answer! so therefore I think both destinations could be romantic. Walking on a beach at sunset is nice,,,,then again renewing your vows at an elvis chaple and having a 5star meal to celebrate...vegas has changed and the food and entertainment couldn't be better. We do mostly beach destinations, so I'd personally opt for the elvis vow renewal thing with a bit of cirque de sole......
