Do you guys want to go to Sausalito or just do the hour boat tour? I am not sure I am get there early enough for the Sausalito trip but if that is the consenus then I can try.

Let me know what you all want to do and what time you are thinking of going. I guess all we need to really worry about is getting to the GTG by 6-6:30.

Guys, are there lunch cruises on Friday? I suggest you take one, being out in the fresh air gives an appetite, Tom will have a seat assigned for him to get up and come back whenever he wants/needs.

Ummm... Tom, how about some stairs once going up to the dinner hall, once coming down at the end of the cruise? The promenade area is on the same level, no stairs. Restroom - I don't remember, sorry.

We did Hornblower, the food was much better then McD, not gourmet, but not bad.

Paula, don't worry, if a lunch cruise, you can be inside by a window, and go outside for short time, so you won't freeze.

I think you can make individual reservations paying for yourself, reserving a large table for a group.

Oh, I didn't mean to suggest going to Sausalito, just that we always get the boat for there from the Ferry Building (which is also closer to dinner, right?)

I'm open to either, but I was just assuming a "boat ride". It's looking like nice temps in the afternoon -- hopefully through next week. I'm open to a lunch cruise, just never been too crazy about them. Generally I'd rather meet at one of the places to have lunch at the ferry building (or not) and then do the ride.

I googled and found references to both a one hour and a 90 minute cruise from the Ferry Building, but oddly when I click the links, I only find information about those leaving from Pier 43 1/2 or elsewhere at Fisherman's Wharf.

I should've read the whole thread before posting :)

About Sausalito: I love to take a bus there, it makes a couple of turns after going over the bridge, great view from above, and then, aaaahhhh suddenly the bus turns, and you see the bay!

But it may be easier to do the RT ferry, the Golden Gate buses run along Mission St and Van Ness, depends on where you're staying may be not so convenient.

(Yeah, trying to make this thread 200 replies long too :) )

Patrick-Yes all I can find is ones leaving from Fisherman's Wharf. Would much prefer the Ferry Building and there are much better places to eat there.

I am not real keen on a lunch tour either and don't know if I will be there that early.

I found this page that shows must of the Bay Tours. I am going to be away from my computer for a few hours but will try to check back in later. You guys decide what you want to do. A little later tour would be better for me but I am re-adjust my schedule. One of my problems is what time I can drop off my dogs at their boarding place but I can work that out.

Wow-I guess I should start previewing my replies. Love that English "is ones". I really do know my singular and plural!

OK, I emailed the Red and White Fleet which is what came up when I clicked the links about leaving the Ferry building. They replied to say they still do that 90 minute tour but it now goes from Fisherman's Wharf instead.

paula1470 Oct 13th, 2008 10:25 AM

Yes Patrick it looks like all the tours go from Fisherman's Wharf. There are either 60 or 90 minute tours.

P_M Oct 13th, 2008 10:35 AM

It looks like they have many departures daily. I also prefer not to do a lunch tour. Paula, I can go with just about any time that works for you so please let us know.

Don't plan on going to Angel Island. It's been on fire since yesterday, don't know if contained :(

P_M Oct 13th, 2008 11:27 AM

I just looked at a video of Angel Island on CNN, yikes!! Not trying to be funny, but Angel Island looks more like hell. I hope they can contain it before any more damage is done. :-(

LoveItaly Oct 13th, 2008 01:42 PM

Hi P_M, it is now about 75% contained. Half of the island burned but evidently the damage was not quite as bad as orginally thought. But the poor firefighters. Not an easy terraine for fighting a wild fire. I haven't read what started the fire. The strong winds our area has had certainly didn't help.
