Slow day folks? Edwards Air Force Base where the shuttle comes in on occasion, is in Lancaster, CA. Don't plan to visit ever and pray for those who have to live there. Lancaster, PA, is in the heart of the PA Dutch country,a great place to visit and especially to eat. Now where is the mysterious hhh?

The Van Dam girl was found 40 miles east of San Diego which a far distance from Lancaster and Edwards Airforce Base.

Where can I get one of those Edwards AFB T-shirts?

Funny postings on this thread!!
Reason #202 why posters MUST include states when posting. How come some just don't seem to get it?? Merle

hhh:

If you are flexible about not having a pool, look up: redcaboosemotel.com. It's a motel where you can stay in an old caboose. It's located in Stratsburg, which is a little east of Lancaster. They have a train store and small restaurant (in a caboose of course) and a miniature train museum right next to it. The motel has a petting zoo and has entertainment at night in the barn in warmer weather. If you really want a pool go to www.bird-in-hand.com (B-in-Hand is east too) and you'll find a place called Family Inn in that village.

I have decided on Willow Valley, PA.

Any comments, suggestions, opinions on Willow Valley

To the topic.
I'm a Canadian just back from Lancaster yesterday. We stayed at the Hampton Inn. One of the popular chain, but this one very well laid out with extra nice landscaping. Good location, close to everything.
It caters to families (there was a family reunion there this weekend). There are two high chairs in the dining-lobby area for the free breakfast. Really nice outside pool with wide steps to walk into it.
Cheers.

have to ask Jul 29th, 2002 06:14 AM

OK Mary
WHICH Lancaster??
PA
or
CA

hhh asked a good and valid question, and look, how much space was wasted on pure nonsense. Don't some people have nothing better to do ?
I find most of Fodor's forum very helpful, and wish it would be a forum of travel-related Q & A.

Anne Jul 29th, 2002 07:05 AM

hhh : we have not stayed at Willow Valley, but have heard excellent reports from others. We passed it on our last trip and it looks like a rather big resort type place and very nice. We usually stay at B&Bs.
Have a great trip !

We go to Lancaster every year for President's weekend.

We stay at the Historic Strasbourg Inn. It's really a beautiful place, surrounded by Amish Country. It's the only place that has acres of land surrounded by Amish country. About 5 minutes from town with the best antique shops. It has an outdoor pool as well.

Check out the website

http://www.historicstrasburginn.com/

There are things for the kids as well.

Obviously, the question of PA or CA has been cleared up but this is a perfect example of people (1/2) wasting their time answering a question assuming it's one location or another. It would have saved many lots of time if hhh had just added the "PA" after Lancaster!! Again, most people from Western states would assume CA as most people from Eastern states would assume PA. Take the time to be specific when posting!!! Tim

Read-the-Forum Jul 30th, 2002 06:05 AM

I don't know how most of you read this thread, but I only view it by clicking in on Pennylvania on the upper right "subject search" line.
Also, the forum is labelled "Forum, United States," "Topic, Pennsylvania" That would tell most people that this Lancaster was in PA!

notso Jul 30th, 2002 06:37 AM

Most postings are read just under the topic United States without searching under any particular state...most people would not have known this was posted under Pennsylvania unless the were specifically looking under that state.
