meesthare,

We saw a terrific Northern Lights display from the UP of Michigan in late August several years ago. It was a rather "other worldly" kind of experience--absolutely beautiful!

We understood that such a show was not unheard of that time of year, so I'm guessing that British Columbia will certainly be a good place to see the aurora!

What a great thing to look forward to...

Hi Meesthare, just to let you know, we have seen spectacular displays of the Northern Lights in Central Alberta in Autumn while camping. I would think that in Central - Northern B.C. you should be able to get a great show around Sept-November. Just gotta be far enough away from city lights and happen to hit it on the right evening!

One time we were driving on a very isolated stretch of road, about 11:00 pm and we were so enchanted by the red and pink dancing Northern Lights that we missed hitting a moose by about 6 inches. Scared the bejesus out of us!

Oh, wow - now I'm even more excited at the possibility of seeing Aurora Borealis! We were watching a TV program the other night - it was a documentary about Japanese tourists going to Yellowknife in the dead of winter to see it; apparently there is a myth that children conceived under the Northern Lights will be especially blessed. The myth evidently became popularized in a "Northern Exposure" script and is now widely believed. As far as I'm concerned, if you can conceive children in that freezing weather, you're already doing pretty well... :">
