Hi, thanks so much for everyone's help. We went to Steamboat for Spring Break and had a wonderful time.
Thanks again for the great suggestion. |
Thanks for reporting back. Its always nice to hear the outcome. Did your son enjoy skiing? Where did you end up staying?
My family is addicted to Colorado skiing. We went to Steamboat for Christmas. We got a beautiful condo via VRBO. Loved Three Peaks Grill so much we ate there two nights in a row. Beautiful decor and good service. Live music one night. We went to Winter Park last weekend. The weather was great and we saw little kids and college kids alike skiing barechested as well as men skiing in kilts and Clover decorated boxers on St. Paddy's Day. I forgot how big that mountain is. And getting better all the time with the addition of new lifts. We ate a very romantic dinner at Devil's Thumb Ranch just outside of Tabernash about 10 miles for Winter Park. Off to Snowmass this week. Can't wait to eat in Aspen. My son is gearing up for the sushi at Takah Sushi. |
Amwosu, I'm glad you found the Ranch House restaurant. Isn't it great? Fantastic service and food (pricey), great location, beautiful log building. It's nice to hear a good review of Winter Park-- most people seem to ignore that area.

Maureen I enjoyed the Ranch House because it had great food and appropriately sized portions. We didn't stuff ourselves and we didn't have leftovers. I'd love to go back in the summer and enjoy the ranch.
We drove up to Grand Lake the following day to look at real estate. Hoping to buy a lot in the area in a year or two. |
amw, thanks for all the wonderful reviews of Colorado! We're looking forward to having you as a neighbor.
The more Buckeyes, the better! |
Thanks again for the all the great suggestions for our last spring trip. Our son loved learning how to ski in Steamboat-so much we are looking into our next yr Spring '08 trip.
Sorry, I did not anwser some of your questions. I Have not been on this site for a while. We stayed via vbro at the Torian Plum. Great Location great people who we rented from. Would stay there again. We also did dog sledding with Grizzle-T (Great Experience), snowmobiles always love and our son loved riding on the back with his Dad) Sleigh ride dinner(we would not do again-cheesy) and night tubing, a blast! Loved slopeside grill and great location for us. As far as restaurants. We had plans to go to the Western BBQ, but we didn't make it, ours friends talk us out of it to have dinner with them at Saketumi in ski time square it was good. Also went to the Butcher Shop too busy the food was just OK. We wanted to go to Cafe Diva didn't make it. We did ski to Ragnar's for lunch just Hubby & I. Loved it. We went to Dos Amigos a couple of times good tex mex. We had breakfeast in the condo almost every morning and had lunch a couple times in the condo. I am looking for suggestions/help again. We still like the direct flights out of Houston and not a long haul from the airport to get to the resort. It doesn't have to be CO. We liked that we could walk to the restaurants from the condo-no shuttle and we did not have to drive. A truly ski-in/out place to stay. Thanks, Liz |
