That's one of the things I like about living in Florida...its a 30 minute flight to the Bahamas, 2 hour drive to Orlando, few hours to the Keys, couple hours to Marco/Sanibel, can hop on a cruise ship with little trouble and on top of that, the sandy beach is only 2 miles from my house! It is an endless vacation! There is no place I'd rather live...and summers here are no hotter than "up North"!
Having said all that, I'm looking forward to spending time in Italy next month! |
"<i>Seriously?</i>"
Seriously, kychris - do you think FL is such heaven on Earth that no one ever wants to go somewhere else?? Everyone has given you answers - but you haven't been back to tell us what you meant/thought . . . . . |
I've been living in Florida for over 35 years, and the only reasons I leave here are:
1. To visit relatives 2. To get away from all the crazies from farther north who believe that Florida is here for their taking. |
I've lived in Florida for 21 years and I take my vacations based on how much time I have. Four days or less, I stay in Florida and go to the beach. More than that and I'm either in Vegas, NYC, the Jersey Shore, or Europe.

Wayne, lol :)
We also used to vacation in FL when we lived there. We would go to the south end of the penninsula and stay at the Vinoy and enjoy St. Petersburg, or to the keys, or even Tampa. |
Costa Rica, a really good change of pace to daily life in Florida with drunk college kids packing the beaches.
|
Sometimes we just go to another area of Florida. I live in Tampa, and love the Keys, Sanibel/Captiva, Ft. Lauderdale, and St. Augustine. We also liked Spain, Italy, California wine country, Alaska, Chicago, Lake Tahoe, Costa Rica, Buenos Aires, Charleston, and Niagara Falls. It is funny how we have sort of geared ourselves to taking our bigger trips during the cooler seasons of our destinations...it's very refreshing.

Anywhere they want !!!

Anywhere they want !!

I grew up in FL and then moved away. Now, nearly everyone I knew from home (including myself) lives in Tennessee or North Carolina. Try vacationing here and you'll see why. :)

Florida Keys, Caribbean islands, Hawaiian Islands (just back today!), Italy, France, Spain, Moorea, Fiji, California, Colorado (gotta have mountains...gotta ski) of course!
|
At present we are Toledo Ohio.

Just back from France and Italy!

NEW YAWK CITY!

Anywhere cooler and with less humidity ! Colorado mountains are my favorite :)
|
Yes, the mountains are a favorite for us as well. Canadian Rockies this fall, Vancouver and the Cascades in Washington state last month. Yosemite. San Francisco. Monterey. Anywhere in British Columbia.

As far away as the travel budget can get us!! This year, we skiied in Colorado (visited son working in Steamboat Springs for the season), visited family in Michigan , and will soon be headed to Las Vegas, Page, and Grand Canyon (to visit son now working on Lake Powell for the summer).
Both sons were born and raised in Florida. Guess they caught the travel bug from their mom-they set out on new adventures at the drop of a hat! Oldest son finished college and is working his way around out west (lucky boy!). Younger son lived in Germany for a year after high school, and plans to go back to Europe to kick around a bit after his college graduation. Both boys have covered most of the US, the Caribbean, Canada, a lot of Europe, and are starting on the Mediterranean. Can you tell Mom is jealous?!!! |
Speaking as a person from Florida, it depends on the time of year and the budget! While I like to visit our theme parks and beaches, I like to do it when the weather and crouds are more tolerable(in the fall). Also like to visit NYC, CALIFORNIA, and many more states in between and next plan on going to Europe. But for now, I'll just hang in my backyard pool! :)

We live in our house in NC during the summer months. So far this past year we've vacationed in France,Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Washington, DC, Virginia and Illinois. Will go to Hawaii the last of October/early November. That's where these Floridians will vacation this year.
