The year 2004 has some pretty big britches to fill, if it's going to live up to 2003!

From the Midwest:

January - rang in the New Year in Naples, Florida

March/April - spring break in the beautiful Florida panhandle town of Seaagrove Beach

July - a long beach weekend in Tampa, Florida

September - two glorious weeks in Italy, including Rome, the Amalfi Coast, and Umbria

December - closed out 2003 in Bangor, Maine

Travellyn, this is a great question! I hadn't realized we did so much in 2003. I was so focused on our first trip to Italy that I barely paid attention to all our other trips, and waddya know, but we made tracks in 2003!

Here's hoping that everyone has a great year of travel ahead of them!

hugglynn Jan 9th, 2004 03:22 PM

I'd like to add an addendum to this question--do you folks hold full time jobs? ;) I work in the public school system, so it's a little hard to get away everytime we'd like to, although I will add this was our sparsest year yet for travel. Our travels included:
June/July - Providence, RI, Cape Cod, MA, coastal RI, NYC
July - Montreal/Quebec, CA
Dec - Manasota Key, Venice, Siesta Key, FL

Does it count if I ran, biked and walked over 2,000 miles????

anne321 Jan 9th, 2004 03:23 PM

Here's my list
January - Quebec City
May - Florence and Venice, Italy
September - Drove the California coast from LA to San Francisco stopping at Santa Barbara, San Simeon and Carmel.
I would recommend this vacation to everyone. It was perfect.
Hope my 2004 trips will be as good.

All the trips to Houston remind me what a terrible year it was for my friends there. On March 5th Tami's face sagged a bit. On March 6th she was diagnosed with a very aggressive brain tumor. I saw her 3 more times and she died in September. She was survived by her husband, a daughter 12 and a son 9. She would have been 40 in November. :'(

It really made me reconsider what's truly important. Make sure you get out there and see your friends and your family. You never know when you won't be able to again.

Sorry to be a bummer. :-[

Indytravel.. that is just horrible.. I am sorry to hear about your friend.. that is a very serious reminder that life is precious.. and can turn on a dime... we all should get out there and see the places we want to see.. do the things we want to do and be with people we care about..life can be so short..

I am sorry for your loss.

Can't remember by month:

Most trips: to my refrigerator

Summertime: over one month, ten countries in Europe

Fall: Driving through SW - back to Navajo country, Zion, Las Vegas, etc.

Spring and Winter: one trip each season to the East Coast

All year long: almost a trip a month to Southern California (driving mostly) - I'm a junkie of places like the Getty Center.

numerous trips to San Francisco or Monterey/Carmel - too many to count. A lot of hiking trips around the Bay Area and Monterey/Carmel.
