Where are you today?

Tell me...where are you today and, perhaps, where would you rather be?

bonniebroad Jun 11th, 2004 11:45 AM

I am at home in central N.C. watching this beautiful farewell to the late President Reagan. I would LOVE to be at the Renaissance Wailea in Hawaii........

dcespedes Jun 11th, 2004 11:49 AM

I am at home experiencing the heat and humidity of south TX ((#))....I would rather be in the cool mountains out west, on a hike :)>-

auntiemaria Jun 11th, 2004 11:54 AM

I'm at home on Kaua`i, watching all the waterfalls tumbling down the north shore pali. Saw 2 rainbows as we headed out for breakfast this morning! ((R))

peterboy Jun 11th, 2004 11:57 AM

At work near Schenectady NY. I'd rather be home playing with the dog since it has been such a beautiful day. This is my first weekend off since Easter so I need nothing more than home to satisfy me. Maybe we'll head up to Saratoga Springs for some dinner tonight or tomorrow night. These are the days we cherish here in Upstate since it is so miserable for so many months. Sorry to see all that rain to the south in the mid Atlantic. I hopr it clears out and you all have a great weekend too. Caio.

missypie Jun 11th, 2004 12:00 PM

On the 45th floor of an office building of downtown Dallas, gazing at the "mighty Trinity River." The Trinity is normally only a ditch, but after about 10 solid days of rain, I keep expecting to see barges floating down it!

shaz60 Jun 11th, 2004 12:02 PM

I am at work on Lowell MA but I would love to be either camping in the mountains or hanging out in New Orleans.

bonniebroad Jun 11th, 2004 12:03 PM

Auntiemaria, guess it would be ridiculous to ask you where you'd RATHER be?;-)

Jeff Jun 11th, 2004 12:07 PM

I'm sitting in my office in Pittsburgh. It is raining very hard.

I would rather be in St. John U.S.V.I.

utahtea Jun 11th, 2004 12:09 PM

I'm home in the San Francisco Bay area and I'd rather be in Utah.

Utahtea

Statia Jun 11th, 2004 12:10 PM

dcespedes, I feel for you....been there, done that.

I'm in the Dutch West Indies getting ready to go out for cocktails in a few hours, after working on our new ocean front property this afternoon.

However, I certainly wouldn't mind being just about any place in Europe at the moment.

Rosemary1 Jun 11th, 2004 12:19 PM

Right now, at home in Denver, heading up to the mtns. to do some river rafting and horseback riding starting tomorrow to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary.

Watched the touching funeral for President Reagan earlier and got a little choked up, especially when the tenor sang Ava Maria, gets me everytime..

mikesmom Jun 11th, 2004 12:34 PM

I'm on the 23rd Floor of an office building in downtown Detroit with a view of the river.

I would rather be on vacation - doesn't really matter where, as long as I'm traveling somewhere fun!

swalter518 Jun 11th, 2004 12:35 PM

I'm in downtown Chicago staring out my window on the 18th floor wishing I was out on one of the boats on the lake I'm looking at...

cruisin_tigger Jun 11th, 2004 12:36 PM

I'm sitting at my desk (bored out of my mind!!) on the 54th floor of a downtown office building looking out at the Sears Tower.
Would rather be in the Living Room at the Princeville sipping something tasty!

annethered Jun 11th, 2004 12:37 PM

By the way ..

I'm finishing a beautiful sunny day in Norfolk, England. Spent the day with my two girls - a nice big 'full-English' breakfast, a bit of shopping, packing to send my 12 year old off on a weeks school trip (5 tons of kit!!) and Ben and Jerry's after dinner!

Where would I rather be? Well, here would be fine really, but with my husband home with us. He works away in the Middle East for 6 weeks at a time. Makes you realise that it's people that make somewhere special in the end.

GoTravel Jun 11th, 2004 12:39 PM

On the SC coast getting ready to go meet a girlfriend for Friday afternoon cocktails.

ANTS430 Jun 11th, 2004 12:42 PM

I am in a humid 91 degree Memphis Tn.

Would much rather be at the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii or at a beach on Kauai....

hibiscushouse Jun 11th, 2004 01:14 PM

At home in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida walking around the house in the new (good ones this time)hiking boots I purchased today for our trip to the Canadian Rockies later this month.

Rather have all my continuing ed nursing credits completed, have that monkey off my back, have everyone packed (making no mistakes in what we won't need and what we will) and already at our destination in Canada. The airline called and pushed our flight later by over two hours, with a longer layover. Meaning we will now get to our destination late at night (traveling alone with three kids.) :-<

Marilyn Jun 11th, 2004 01:14 PM

I'm home in the woods just north of San Francisco. It's a perfectly beautiful day here and I'm pretty content to be home for a month. (Returned from NYC 2 weeks ago and are off to Portland OR and Hayden Lake ID in 3 weeks.)

annethered, I have spent LOTS of time in Norfolk, Stiffkey, Fakenham, and Wells-Next-The-Sea, to be specific. It's lovely there!

Statia, as much as I'd love to join you for cocktails, I think we should meet in Bandera. Don't you have a sister there? One of my best friends lives there. Or am I utterly confused on this Friday afternoon?

Kal Jun 11th, 2004 01:22 PM

I'm currently in the small town of Moderation where my Doctor tells me ok to drink whatever I want.
I've started cocktail hour...OK...So I'm still on NYC time. ((B))8-}

atilla Jun 11th, 2004 01:23 PM

At work in Edmonton, Canada.
Would rather be touring around NYC!
Hope you have a great time in our Rockies hibiscushouse!

FainaAgain Jun 11th, 2004 01:30 PM

Marilyn, you're going to Portland, OR??? It's really a small world, only I'm off in a week :) My suitcase is opened and ready for the last minute packing!

BTilke Jun 11th, 2004 01:35 PM

At home in Brussels, making calls to the family...today's my mother's birthday, yesterday was my brother's birthday AND my parents' anniversary.
Where would I rather be? The Loire Valley in France; we're driving there on Wednesday for vacation. Or sitting with a coffee in Port Townsend. Hard to choose...so many wonderful places.

suzanne Jun 11th, 2004 02:06 PM

I'm in NYC in my office building. I'd rather be in NYC *outside* of my office building. Well, here I go...! :)

Marilyn Jun 11th, 2004 02:14 PM

Faina, the annual 3D photo convention is there. And wherever it is, there we go! Mesa AZ (in mid July!), Manchester NH, Ft. Wayne IN, oh the fun never stops. Actually, I think Portland is a great town.

dbenya Jun 11th, 2004 02:31 PM

In Philadelphia, where it's been drizzling all day long. Walked past Independence Hall today and was sad to see all the fences, security and watchful eyes. Remembered when I used to cut through the park on my way home, shopping cart full of good things from the Reading Terminal market. Can't do that any more . . . Wish I were sitting on the Spanish Steps, holding hands with my husband.

cd Jun 11th, 2004 02:33 PM

We are in Muskogee Oklahoma where we are now having a before dinner drink and then spending the weekend touring before working the next week and half here.

lauriejebon Jun 11th, 2004 02:38 PM

I am in the 'heart' of the Great Lakes...Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada with Lake Superior on one side of us and Lake Huron on the other..Lake Michigan a 45 minute drive away.
We've had a late spring and looooong winter, so this beautiful, sunny, 70 degree day was most welcome and appreciated!!

Statia Jun 11th, 2004 02:54 PM

Marilyn, yes I think we've discussed the Bandera connection at some point in time. My husband's sister and her family are there, so we know many people in that area. They used to run Twin Elm Ranch, actually. As small as Bandera is, I'm sure your friend and my sister-in-law probably know one another, as well!

We really love to make it up that way when we are in the States, if even for a weekend. I get the 11th Street Bar weekly newsletter by email and always long to be there when I see what's going on every weekend. But then, of course, I long to be in Venice, Paris, etc., etc., etc., as well.

You should email me sometime at [email protected] and we'll compare notes!

travellyn Jun 11th, 2004 03:05 PM

At home near Durango, CO, at the computer instead of getting out and doing something. I'll probably get my mountain bike fixed this weekend so I can start riding. My daughter's leaving tomorrow morning for a one week church trip to the White River Apache Reservation in Arizona. I'm hoping to take a nice hike for a few hours tomorrow with my husband, son, and dog.

jacketwatch Jun 11th, 2004 03:10 PM

In a critical care unit at a teaching in Chicago really stressed!!

Scarlett Jun 11th, 2004 03:28 PM

At home, in Jacksonville Florida, where it is hot/humid/thundering.

I would not mind being in the Berkshire Mts of Mass for the summer, going to Tangelwood every night and eating fresh farm produce and going antiquing every day:)

SandyBrit Jun 11th, 2004 05:29 PM

At home in Illinois after working all day at the nursing home.

I had my usual early weekly phone chat with my mum who lives in Felixstowe, Suffolk, England. She said it was a lovely day there but they could do with some rain! I have not been home now for close to a year and I am yearning to go and get away from the heat and humidity.

Will spend this evening catching up on needed chores and playing on this computer looking for an affordable flight that leaves from St. Louis.

Sandy

carbogilligan Jun 11th, 2004 08:52 PM

I'm in beautiful Southern California about 15 miles from the Reagan Library.
I saw and heard the military jets as they flew over the funeral tonight.
I love it here but if I had to pick another place, it would be the north shore of Kauai!

dln Jun 11th, 2004 08:59 PM

At home in Indianapolis, and there's no place I'd rather have been today. I spent most of the day watching President Reagan's funeral. It was a sad day; a good day to be home.

Marrion Jun 12th, 2004 12:37 PM

I'm in Scotland, U.K. and right now at 9.30p.m. it's lovely, wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Knowing Jun 14th, 2004 09:21 AM

At home in MN. I'm just about ready to go sit out on the patio with my Linzer Torte and look at the water. Because it's summertime, there's nowhere else I'd rather be.

Dreamer2 Jun 14th, 2004 09:39 AM

I'm at home in New Hampshire, and it's a gloomy, clammy day. I'm doing laundry, and all the stuff that needs catching up after a long weekend away at a family reunion. Consequently, I'm feeling bored, lonely, and a bit blue, and wishing I were somewhere sunny and warm, sipping on a pina colada, with my loved ones around.
:)

missjanna Jun 14th, 2004 10:20 AM

I'm here in my office building halfway between the Flatiron Bldg and Union Square here in Manhattan. It's cloudy, humid and 75 today.

Would rather be on Key Biscayne, FL with my BF, or better yet, somewhere in Australia!!

Hey Dreamer, what part of NH? I was there in Nashua this weekend...
