Ditto sobster- I only said this to my son because he was only five and I figured he wouldn't remember.....he was being critical of my driving swerving around corners and once asked "doesn't yellow light mean you should slow down?" I said "no, it means hurry up and get through before it turns red."
Worst drivers in my experience:
1. Cairo (the only place I've been in a car accident in my taxi)
2. Quebec; Montreal
3. Rome

I lived in Boston for two years....no place in the U.S. is as bad as overseas. Yes, we have our idiotic frustrating stupid drivers but they are not scary dangerous; they just get our blood pressure up.

L84SKY, you sure are optimistic (that the cell phone ban will make any difference). We can only hope!

Boston was the first place I had ever been passed on the right on the freeway......by someone in the breakdown lane.

Overheard a Montreal West Island cop on a radio talk show state that there is no dumber driver than a Montreal West Island soccer mom in a SUV. According to him "she will take out three bus stops and a couple of parked cars before she stops yakking on the phone."

dmlove, the cell phone ban helped for a minute. Now people are back on their phones.

A driver in metro NY who learned how to drive in Moscow.

Followed by SC drivers who don't know how to use the median turning lane, put on their turn signals 2 miles before the turn, etc. etc.

Road rage drivers in Atlanta. No insurance, no license and no brains. Better stay at least over 20 mph over the speed limit or you'll be crushed.

Quebec drivers on I-95 in a hurry to get home or to the south. Shudder.

Boston. There green light means "honk & yell!" instead of "go!"

International - My worst was in Taiwan where there were 4 well- marked lanes but 5 lines of cars going down the highway, and bicycles kept getting tangled with other bicycles in the crosswalks.

I would have to agree with Puerto Rico. Left hand turns from FAR right-hand lanes; NONE on the cars' turn signals EVER work; the so-called "auto=pistas?" Everybody hogging the left lane; insurance rates apparently go DOWN if you can log as many minutes as possible on your cell phone while "driving." Italy? Paris? a piece of cake by comparison

On a mountain road in front of me.

Flatlanders driving in the mountains in the winter......they're always shocked when they crash going 55-60mph in a snowstorm. When told they were going too fast for conditions, the inevitable reply to the investigating CHP officer is, "But I have 4-wheel drive!!"
