Boston
Boston
Boston

I learned to drive in Boston. Moved elsewhere for 10 years and just moved back to Boston. I immediately get road rage!

Yellow light means step on it. NO JOKE! I don't even bother trying to slow down or stop when I see Yellow, because if I do, the car behind me will sure hit me because that driver is stepping on the gas!

In the last 2 months, I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people running Red Lights. Or Turn R on Red when clearly a sign states "No Turn on Red." Or go straight in a "Left Turn Lane Only."

My husband walks 1.5 miles to work every day and the risk of him getting run over is extremely high. No drivers pay attention to walk signals, and never stop when a pedestrian is on the Cross-walk.

NJ for sure. What do I mean by bad? They don't look, don't signal. They drive right next to people in lane next to them. They do 10 miles per hour under the speed limit in the left lane and in any lane they are in they don't maintain their speed (ie 60 to 45 to 55, swerve into another lane, drop down to 40).

one and only - CAIRO! no contest.

It's a suicide mission, plain and simple.

In the US- Florida does have its fair share..although I am sure that when they were first driving, 80-90 years ago, they drove better :D

In the world?
Buenos Aires, Argentina.

No speed limits.
Lines in the street mean nothing to them.
Red lights mean drive faster .
Green lights mean pedestrians can walk but quickly!
No seat belts.
No car seats.
Bad...muy mal.
Did I say no licenses or driving tests??

OMG Scarlett, You are so right. I forgot all about Buenos Aires. That is a city where I would never drive a car myself.

Mexico was terrifying, as was Miami. LA is bad too, although I love all of these places I am reluctant to drive there!

Boston- at least in my experience!

Phinn Mar 18th, 2008 04:29 AM

Jeddah, KSA makes Cairo look good! (At least there's so much congestion in Cairo, people can't actually drive too fast!)

NJ and then they retire to FL.

I think in Italy they are very skillful drivers.

Most of world's worst drivers are ALWAYS in the car ahead of mine when I'm trying to get somewhere fast; the rest of them are taligating me while yelling into their cellphones.

Boston drivers are in a class of their own. Boston is a good training ground for driving. I once saw a taxi try to enter the Callahan tunnel with 2 wheels that appeared to be slightly raised on the wall. When I moved to the south I had to learn to wait my turn at 4 way stops.

KarinNp Mar 18th, 2008 10:45 AM

My neighbourhood. Why I just have to know why do they leave their drive way on their cell phones?

Yes, I have a cell phone but I use it to phone 911 when the "person" behind me hits me.

I live in a university town and in August when they ship those 18 year olds into town in a new BMW, I stay home and order in food.

The south during a bit a snow or ice southerns take it as a personal challenge to drive. In most northern cities most drivers are happy for a snow day and have the good sense to stay home.

The "frog heads" in South Florida. Publix Grogery parking lot is the WORST!!!!

Any interstate the posted speed limit is only a suggestion.

I was once IN a taxi in Boston rushing to get to a game at the Garden and the driver took a traffic circle essentially by going straight -- over the curb and all!

I've been to numerous cities in the US. My interpretation of the worst drivers are those who fail to yield right-of-way, those who ignore the rules of the road (like running stop signs and red lights) and tail-gaters. Unfortunately, you find them in every city or wherever there is traffic congestion.

Jakarta.

Nigeria. I am amazed I'm still alive today, it must have been the miracle before Christmas.

platoonleader Jun 5th, 2008 03:41 PM

Charleston, SC. Nobody there knows what a turn signal is for, what right of way means or what left or right turn only means! Buckle up when you visit!

L84SKY Jun 5th, 2008 07:14 PM

Mexico is pretty bad.

A couple of weeks ago I would have said San Diego during tourist season but on July 1 that will improve.
Cell phones will be banned while driving in California. Yippee!

sobster Jun 5th, 2008 07:35 PM

Wait a minute! You mean the yellow light does NOT mean step on it?
