You can get an AARP card when you're 50!! That's not old!! |
Cassandra,
I'm curious. What do you consider "older"? ronk |
""If you're not concerned with your health or your wealth, what are you concerned with at your age?
"" Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I am eligible for AARP at 40 because Mr. GoTravel hit the big 5-0 this year. |
Lets try to meet health concerns and taste here. Try the Cape Cod chips that are 40% fat reduced. Can't we all just get along or must you have a chip on your shoulder. OK, I said it. I'm sorry. :-) :-)

Oh, Cassandra, if I thought for a moment yours was a serious reply... You obviously haven't given health a second thought, have you?
Cassandra wrote "I also assume you don't touch or even discuss caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, fried foods, chocolate, candy, mercury-infused fish, fat-infused red meat, a TV remote, or any controlled substances" What a stunning display of ignorance and naivete. Is this the best you could do? |
As I understand it, the potato chip was invented when Mr. Vanderbilt (of the Biltmore empire) during dinner had sent the fried potatoes back to the kitchen several times asking his cook to slice them thinner. Each time they were sliced thinner but not to Mr. Vanderbilt's liking. Finally, the cook, out of frustration, angrily sliced the potatoes paper thin and sent it out to the table. To Mr. Vanderbilt's delight, they were exactly what he was hoping for...and the rest is history.

fehgeddaboudit,
You seem to have a problem playing nicely with others. This was such a pleasant thread until you jumped in and tried to cause trouble. That seems to be your specialty! |
Very cute, jacketwatch!
Please don't call the food police but my grandma never ate fresh fruit (always cooked it in pies); didn't excercise after she raised her kids (sat and knitted or tatted); and pretty much had meat, potatoes, a veggie and pie with ice cream for dinner. She died at 92. No medication, pretty skin and had no idea who she was. Soooo, forget about it and eat some chips. Have some fries while you're at it-they were one of Julia Child's faves! |
You're not kidding, donco. My grandmother is 104 and still going strong. Everything in moderation. ANYTHING in moderation!

My grandpa ate lard (he boiled pork butt and poured the fat and meat into a pan, refrigerated it, and cut into squares and ate it--cold!), had a piece of apple pie and coffee every night after dinner, and a jigger of wine each night before bed, and he lived to 94. He probably would have lived to a 100 but he was tired of living and his buddies were all gone. So I'm banking on having good genes and eat my chips too! I hope I can still find those Utz chips fried in lard.

When my great-grandfather was in the hospital after breaking his hip, the nurse brought him "medicine" in a little white paper cup. I caught a whiff - and then asked. Since he had a shot of Jack Daniels every morning and afternoon, the doc "prescribed" it and a bottle was kept at the nurses stations. Why not.
GGD said if he couldn't "piddle" he would die. He was right. Once he broke his hip, he was ready to go since he couldn't piddle in his garden anymore. So, he did. Decided to die - and did shortly after returning home. |
offlady: "Good genes" How true! OTOH some people get clots no matter what they do or don't do.

Aren't you sweet to ask! It's a wonderful white pineapple-macadamia nut candy similar to divinity to me, but more Hawaiian. It was our favorite the many things they have! We tried to buy a case of the Taro chips, but like you, could only pick up a few bags at each grocery store, here and there, but finally filled up an empty case box. If you can't find them anywhere else, the ABC stores will have them! And yes, I can order more candy from the Menehune Factory. I had them mail the original order and it came within 2 days! I'll wait until I'm suffering alittle more! =P~ You HAVE gone and sampled all the things at that shop, no?? Yum! Belle |
Remind me to decline my dinner invitation to feg...it's home. Probably some tofu sprinkled w/wheat germ, w/a fresh squeezed glass of carrot juice. Although peoples' actions & diets have a lot to do w/the aging process, some of us are fortunate enough to have good genes which relieves us from worrying about eating 'fat-free' ie. taste free chips & the like. I prefer to live my life, not merely exist.
