7 Deadly Zins with chocolate and licorice tones.

smalti Jul 7th, 2006 06:40 PM

starrsville--Please take the rest. I'm getting a little bit hammered...

amwosu Jul 7th, 2006 06:55 PM

Traveling this weekend? DS is in a drum corp (think marching band on steroids)traveling the country and they come to my town tomorrow.

I will be traveling with them for 8 days working the kitchen truck. There are 135 "kids" 15-22 yrs of age that go through 30 gallons of milk and 30 loaves of bread every day or every other day.

They practice 12 hr/day on rehearsal days and 8 hr/day on show days. They travel by busand the parent volunteers are on a converted airport shuttle bus, sleeping while we move on to the next state each night. He has two free days in 2 1/2 months.

I'm taking the Prozac and the Lorazipam and the running shoes. Hopefully I won't run out of anything and embarass him while I PMS. Did I mention the cooler of tiny wine bottles I'm taking? A cheap Chardonnay....

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 06:56 PM

seetheworld~ have a wonderful time. We have a close family friend who goes to Portugal and speaks Portuguese. As a young man, he did a two year mission there as well. Very interesting country! J.

matnikstym Jul 7th, 2006 06:59 PM

jet, that can be the intermission entertainment for you and faina's mud wrestling....does statia have a mud pit on her island where the gtg will be?

seetheworld Jul 7th, 2006 07:00 PM

Wow, things just keep getting better and better around here! :D

Thanks J. This will be a new adventure for us both.

Statia Jul 7th, 2006 07:00 PM

nevermind, I'm so glad to hear that you are getting along well and your DH is taking care of you. Wow! 38 years! Congrats! DH and I are on 13 married, 15 together....time flies when you're having fun, eh?

It's so nice to see everyone having fun "talking travel" even if it's just letting the little four leggers out for a "trip." Speaking of which, I have a Chihuahua and a JRT that I have to take out before their eyes start turning yellow.

Nighty night Fodorites. Wow...I'm a poet and didn't even know it. :D

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 07:05 PM

matsy~ hmm, okay, and I'll bring the Febreeze in case old Krakatoa erupts!

Why so coy tonight? What have you been doing lately for fun? Movies, random acts of beach combing? You lead a mysterious life my friend...

starrsville Jul 7th, 2006 07:14 PM

We are being shut down. Behave chickees. Sleep tight all. Don't let the bed bugs bite (travel related REALLY. reference all the bug bite threads)

seetheworld Jul 7th, 2006 07:17 PM

I see that. Well, keeping this travel related...tonights BA flight actually took off near on-time! Hurray! Now I can rest. :)

LoveItaly Jul 7th, 2006 07:26 PM

The questions were what?

I am on my second glass of wine so getting foggy perhaps, LOL.

Pampering, hmm, a week on a lovely beach with tons of good books to read would be ideal for me right now, but only if I had a big beach umbrella over me.

Where am I going this weekend I think was another question. UH, to the closet to get the vacumncleaner, to the laundry room to do some laundry as due to the last week or so I am sooo behind in everything. How is that for sounding like the most boring Fodorite of all, lol.

Wishing you and your husband a beautiful anniversary dear Statia!! And I do hope your husbands "girlfriend' DOESN'T interrupt your anniversary weekend, lol. I do remember your post!

And nevermind, a wedding anniversary wish to you two also!! 38 years is awesome, I wish you many many more.

And Faina, welcome back dear friend. LOL, you of all people being banned, who would of thunk?

Where I have no interest in travelling to, well I have never been interested in going to any of the countries in Asia although so many love to travel there including family members. Maybe I would if I had unlimited money for travel but I don't, sigh!

Saluti per tutti!

BayouGal Jul 7th, 2006 07:38 PM

WELCOME BACK, FAINAAGAIN!

Jetset, do you still have company? How are you doing?

Q1. I think women need to create situations and places in their homes that make them feel pampered. I have quite a few, but here's 2 off the top of my head: when my sheets are freshly changed, bedroom is very clean, and I'm tucked in with a good book; when I am soaking in the tub with candles lit and nice music playing.

Q2: Sunday is my b'day, so DH is taking me somewhere overnight tomorrow, but it's a surprise. So excited! Then he's taking me to one of our favorite restaurants Sunday night for a special birthday dinner.

Q3: That's a tough one, but definitely nowhere with ongoing war, oppression of women and children, and crimes against mankind being carried out.

Poison tonight: OJ O:-) Hope everyone is having a great evening!

Fodorite018 Jul 7th, 2006 07:57 PM

STW--Have a great trip! We went there a few years ago and it is really an interesting place. I can't wait to hear about your trip!

I am not traveling this weekend. We returned today...but DS travels tomorrow (flying to CA) and DH in a day or so (for work). BUT, in a week we all head to Sunriver for a week!

trippinkpj Jul 7th, 2006 08:09 PM

Tonight I'm alternating between bottled water and iced tea. :-)

mgdriver Jul 7th, 2006 08:18 PM

My poison is pretentious Fodorites with nothing else to to but drop names and yakyakyak about nothing.
The original question--What's yer poison? My answer--Old Speckled Hen. English. And very good.

matnikstym Jul 7th, 2006 08:19 PM

jet, today i traveled to the big city of hilo, hawaii to see a travel movie "Pirates of the Caribbean", stopped off at Safeway to buy some international food (Pita Chips, Garlic Salsa from NYC, and a nice package of Potato Hot Dog Buns which since they have potato in them, they must be from Ireland, a place emd does not want to travel to. I traveled home listening to my Sounds of Luangwa cd, picked up on my travels to Zambia. When I got in my travel vehicle, I had forgotten I had the cd in and started up the travel vehicle when all of a sudden I heard a Zambian hippo, scared the sh** out of me, I floored the travel vehicle and ran up on the curb, thank god the travel gods were smiling upon me as noone was in front of me. I could hear the policeman writing in his report..What caused this accident? Well, I thought a hippo was after me. HMMM breathe into this...NO WAY! They got me once on that breathe into this thing and I'll never fall for that again! So after the travel home, I poured a nice domestic whiskey, from Kentucky, some people travel there, and here I am. The frogs traveled all the way here from Puerto Rico, a vacation destination off the coast of Florida (see Disney World) in a container of palms for Wal-Mart, an international company, though why Wal-Mart didn't buy locally, you'd have to ask one of the remaining, living Waltons who like to travel. now I'm having chicken parmesan, an Italian favorite. So you can see, I've travelled the world all in one day, though I did miss Homer Alaska. Maybe tomorrow's travels

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 08:23 PM

BayouGal~ Happy Birthday early((^))((D))((k))((p))((8))((f))((r))((b)):S-=D>((G))

How many spanks do you get? How many spanks do you deserve?
My cousins took the train to Denali and are returning via San Jose, Vegas and Dallas, lol. The whole shmear..

we had a blast, but this lemon water home induced high colonic is for the birds(who have mysteriously vanished btw).
I nearly shared an inhaler with a stranger recently, and had a close call with a woman wearing coveralls and needing an estrogen fix, whew!

Where'a a heimlick when you need one?

Welcome back and party on:D Miss J.

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 08:32 PM

poor poor Matty~ here, put your head against my heart. No silly, a bit higher.[-X... Okay, serenity now...

You need to learn to reason with your local p.d.((#)) I am never in the police reports btw.
I save up points by calling them as a concerned citizen. Plus, I have two neighbors who have learned to ignore my lead foot when I am within a two mile distance of home and magic blender needs a feeding:))
Too bad you aren't here. We could sit on the deck and I'd fish out my souvenir ukelele and do my special deck dance for you.
Pretoria, been there?(insert travel topic)...((y))
Oh, my brother-in-law has been in Shanghai for two years with one more left in his contract, so we may go visit there as well. behave, J.;)

BayouGal Jul 7th, 2006 08:34 PM

Hey, J! Thanks!!!! :">

Love matnikstym's 1 day travel report, but he did do a lot of name dropping!;-) Mgdriver will not be pleased with all of us pretentious, yada yada, Fodorites. 8-)

The birds have truly flown the coop?!? Who besides St. Aug is showing signs of blowing her top? Don't start shaking the ground . . . you know what happened the last time you started that quaking in Alaska, J! C:)

And most importantly, have you been practicing your mud wrestling? Surely you could have slathered up a few cousins to get in a little practice!

matnikstym Jul 7th, 2006 08:39 PM

never been to peoria, or anywhere in Illinois for that matter. have you been?

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 08:51 PM

Uh uh, BayouGal~ never wrestle with a woman who willingly paid big bucks for five days of craziness, is large boned and has knuckles the size of grapefruit.
My other cousin is more skinny beach, so I have to love her because what if she has iceworms?
We did paint the town red though.. aye yi yi.. I am more of a multi appetizer and drinks gal, these woman ate like they were starving every meal.
We all resembled hunchback whales after every meal.
We nearly had to hire a crane to lift us out through the ceiling. We tried some berry picking. I brought my oldest sons' t-shirts so we wouldn't ruin clothing. My bigger cousin Tillie wore one that said "Been there, wrecked that", now THAT was funny!
Anyway, it's been a crazy week. I learned to drive class C motorhome.. glad we didn't hit any cannery workers trying to hitch hike.. more later, J.

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 08:53 PM

matty~ my Mr. Man went to Peoria once for some purchasing of big things on giant tires at the Caterpillar facory. Me, nope.
What time is it there you lawbreaking spider petter?

matnikstym Jul 7th, 2006 09:09 PM

it's 7:07 p.m. I think you've lived 2 hours more than me, sad, when we're starting, all the rest are ending, but at least you didn't have them Korean (is that pc?) aimed at you.

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 09:14 PM

Yes he did. Our local branch was on standby and ready to go.. crazy stuff huh?
I am looking forward to the air show. Now it's a two year event because of the troops overseas and the coast. Last year, they didn't have it and it was missed.
Whatcha doing this weekend?

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 09:16 PM

matty~ it appears that everyone disappeared except the desperate, being you and I,lol.
What can we talk about? hmm, think of something very naughty..

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 09:21 PM

okey dokey, hows about where's your next domestic trip to?
Who is your favorite traveling pal?
Were you in any of your photo albums? well, I'm waiting....

matnikstym Jul 7th, 2006 09:43 PM

boy it's boring as hell (are we allowed to say hell?) here without an audience...kind of like minnie ripperton singing lovin' you. next domestic trip? Reno Nevada for a convention. Yep, dug out my polyester leisure suit and white shoes, got my Hello! My name is matnikstym nametag, got the plastic flower boutaneer that shoots water and i'm set to go. I'm the dork with the elephant behind him in my first set of pics from Zambia, the one with the hair sticking up, wasn't from fear of the elephant as he'd already seen me nekkid in the shower so we were close friends at that point, but because of the stupid hat someone told me to wear to keep the tsetse flies off, but they preferred my knees, knobby as they may be, but not as bony as my ankles as i swear i have to sleep with a pillow between them or they'd cut into each other, people wonder how i stand up on them things, but most of the time I manage. The second trip, there's no pics of me at all since the friend who went with me couldn't take a picture if you gave him a crayon, so I'm like blurry which is fine if you've partaken in some alcohol and i become focused and i had even a dorkier hat that my travel agent said to wear and he'd give me a discount on the next trip. but hell (are we allowed to say that) i gave it to some Zambian boy and now he's probably being called the dork of Zambia as I was the first 2 days when I wore it.

jetset1 Jul 7th, 2006 10:36 PM

matsy~ you make me smile, you are such a silly when intoxicated or just being a goofus. Listen dear one, I need to retire for the evening.
This week's outtings were fun but exhausting, and I need to catch up on my deep rem sleep. sweet dreams, J.
