Loews Ventana Canyon in Tucson. Since people can be mean here, remember this is the best place I have stayed. Not best hotel in general.

I always thought that A Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons couldn't be beat until I stayed at the Regent Chiang Mai in Thailand. Absolutely amazing architecture, enormous rooms, large bathrooms which were half inside and half open air with their own private gardens and the service? Impeccable. It's almost like they read your mind and anticipate your every desire. This place was not to be believed. Also relatively speaking, I don't think it was that expensive ( I think it was less than $300), considering it was such a phenomenol hotel.

Hong Kong and Bangkok/Phuket have the most dense conglomeration of world class hotels of anyplace on earth.
Lori Aug 29th, 2002 08:18 AM

OK didn't realize we could mention hotels outside the US (doh), in that case George V in Paris.

a Aug 29th, 2002 08:27 AM

FYI to Nina: The Regent is a four seasons.

nina Aug 29th, 2002 08:38 AM

Is it? The Four Seasons name wasn't on anything when I was there in '98. Maybe it's just the Asian culture that adds the elevated service.
