Hubbie and cousin just left for S. Dakota pheasant hunting for the week, so today (Sat.) I'm cleaning house, dropping the dog off at our 2 kids (adult) house and then going to church in the A.M., then the cousin's wife and I are heading to Ft. Myers beach for the week. I am enjoying all the gifts that God has blessed me with, and in my own way beating the terrorits by not hiding out!

It's a beautiful day in west central Florida...humidity way down, perfect breeze and 81 degrees.

Saturday is yard sale day for us and a few neighbors....trying to clean up that attic (at least for a few days!) THEN we are having 19 fifth grade kids over to watch a 4 hours movie, Gone With The Wind. Does this sound like a recipe for disaster? They're studying the civil war and their teacher suggested they all see this movie. "Frankly my dear...." Have a good one everyone. Keep your chin up!!

We are moms hence, we had a designated driver. He zipped us around several bay area towns in his convertable Mercedes. <BR> <BR>We danced with strange men, thanked the good lord for the husbands that we talk crap about. Those same husbands who were asleep with one eye open, waiting for us to crawl in after 2:00am. <BR> <BR>Saturday, it was hotter than July.(Really, check the weather sites) <BR>Did the California Girl" maintenance thing: Hair appointment, nail appointment, Personal trainer appointment. <BR>Met the other girls for a liquid and salad lunch at a "hot" outdoor cafe. <BR> <BR>Dropped kid at HS football game. Got ready for fantastic outdoor concert in the bay area. Made teen walk from pick-up spot as I still had more face to paint. Ran into kid on porch as I was trying to rush to car so as not to be late to the concert. Told kid and husband to find something in the freezer...ignored their rolling eyes... Hopped into gigantic SUV with music blaring. Picked up girlfriend. Laughed loud, winked at the cuties who were also going to the concert. Talked on cell phone to husband who informed me that we had ice in the freezer. I said, I love you too, hung up, turned music up louder. Turned off the cell phone. Enjoyed the concert, got contact high, a beer buzz and hoarse from scream "I Love You" to the lead guitarist... In early tonight at 1:30 am... <BR>Sunday, another scorcher! Put on size 6 Victoria Secret shorts. Rolled eyes at husband and son who seriously questioned if I had the "right" size pants on. <BR>Took big ole luxury SUV for her hand washing. <BR>Watched the A's get whupped by the Yanks. <BR>Came home, helped son address his 25 college letters (past due summer project). <BR>Wondered where husband was... <BR>Went to Michael's Craft Store for the 50% off "midnight sale" <BR>(5:00pm-8:00pm). <BR>Pathetically bought a Christmas decorative sign (oh, hush!). Ignored son's chastisement for not even letting Halloween pass. Halloween is HUGE in Northern Cal. Our home is all decked out for that! Went home. wondered where husband was...Went out to dinner with son. Wondered where husband was...watered the lawn, made small talk with neighbors. Wondered where husband was...Finished reading the Sunday papers. Wondered where husband was...Got things ready for work tomorrow. Saturday: Went bowling for the Aloha United Way at Kam Bowl in the morning, and in the pm watched UH obliterate UTEP 66 to 7. Caught the SNL opening skit, although last week's was better. <BR> <BR>Sunday: Went for a wonderful swim at Ala Moana Beach in the morning, and spent quality family time in the afternoon. The weather was perfect.

Well the weekend is unfortunately over, but we had a great time. We went for a hike in Brandywine Creek State Park, DE on Sunday. We only meant to go for an hour but got lost and ended up on a 2 hour adventure instead. My sister and I thought it was funny, but the kids weren't as amused. Later in the day, we went on hayride. What a beautiful weekend. I hope it's nice next weekend as well!!

Went to the Davis Cup in Winston-Salem to watch our team play India. Awesome tennis. And the crowd was fabulous. There was a group of college kids in front of us with their faces and bodies painted and all wearing red/white/blue. They had signs and cheers for everything. Lots of fun. Very moving when Andy Roddick did a victory lap around the coliseum waving the American flag.

I intended to write before the weekend so here's the wrap up: <BR> <BR>Friday: <BR>Traded an 11 yo boy for a 7 year old girl with a fellow mom for a sleepover. Thought I was getting the better deal, hmmmmmm. DH traveling through Friday traffic in N CA on a beautiful evening going slowly. Pick up pizza, think about cocktails. <BR> <BR>Saturday: <BR>Switch the kids back. It's a no soccer weekend, let's head for Tahoe!!!! Did yard work instead. 11 yo son volunteered to help. Did pretty well. Tried not to show my shock! Drug ourselves beaten to discount store to take advantage of sales before they end. Hit a chain restaurant that takes no reservations, as usual lines out the door. We snuck in the back and sat in the bar. Had a way good time, drinking rum runners so we could pretend we were still in Kauai. Got the bartender to switch the channel after the A's/Yankees to Fresno Bulldogs as I noticed some fans in their red shirts. What are they doing so far from home? Go Dogs #8!!!!! <BR> <BR>Sunday: <BR>I know everyone intentionally slept in past church time.... Beautiful day, let's go to Tahoe! Daughter has bday party to go to. Did yard work instead. Huge yard. 11 yo volunteered to help in the yard again and made dinner. I'm afraid......Does Anthrax cause this scary behavior? <BR>Hoping for another chance next week. Praying for continued sun!
