What's a "must have" at hotels?
What is one thing that a hotel HAS to offer for you to stay there?
Beds
besides the obvious.
A shower curtain that doesn't stick to you when you're trying to take a shower!
bed and private bath/shower.
A non-smoking room.
A WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!

MM
To Mr. Macho:

What is A WOMEN? How can it be singular AND plural at the same time?
my thoughts exactly-what the heck is A WOMEN?? get real macho!
What did you expect? For him to be both macho AND literate! LOL. Besides, if he was so macho, he wouldn't need the hotel to provide him with "A WOMEN." He'd be able to find his own.
Vending machines.
Balcony, escpecially if it's a beach destination. Otherwise, good restaurants and pretty decor.
towels
Rooms, preferably entire floors, that are strictly nonsmoking, and no smoking in any public spaces.
Often for me it's 40 channels on cable tv...gotta have my weather channel,ESPN 2, and A & E.
Clean
good bed
drapes that close
available outlets
a bedcover that is freshly laundered
shower head above my head
tv with at least 40 channels
bright enough bulbs to read by
minimal crack under the door
plenty of hot water
24hr room service
big fluffy towels

That's the minimum IMHO
A great view and a great location.
LOL, picturing Fred, achieving absolute blackness in his crack-free room by closing his drapes, then turning on his nice bright reading light and ordering room service at 4 AM, freshly showered and wrapped in a big fluffy towel and sitting on his nice clean bedspread while also clicking through his 40 channels.

I guess this means you don't want to come camping with me?
Fred--do ANY hotels fit up to that huge list of demands? If so, which one??
I spent 160 nights on the road last year, and that's my list of what I want in a room. I got it complete about 25 times and 80-90% about another 50. 4 Seasons, The Ritz and some of the W's get them all right. Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott get most of it right. I am in the top tier of several hotel programs, and with the help of their premier support desks, a clean comforter in never a problem.
You go boy!!
An affectionate partner...
A bottle or two of something nice...
A locked door...

Dim the lights & guess the rest ( Love is the Drug - Roxy Music ).
Go, Fred! The only way to travel! I love the Four Seasons and the Ritz....my personal enjoyments....24 hour room service and a well-stocked mini-bar.
A bathtub.
I'm with the "shower curtain that doesn't cling to you" person.
Oceanfront (not ocean view)!
I think that this will explain why Americans have such a hard time in Europe.
Given that more and more hotels have reached the $200/night range, even in suburban areas, I don't think Fred's expectations are unreasonable at all.
Will forego many things if we can just have a little QUIET after 10 pm.
A shower that even during AM "rush hour" delivers decent temperature and volume of hot water.
A coffee maker AND a restaurant that opens at 6AM.
A comfortable chair for reading. I hate reading in bed unless it's one of those Heavenly Beds with all the extra pillows.
A nice lounge.
Besides the obvious---a coffee maker. I want my coffee the minute I wake up. I don't want to have to wait for room service or go down to a restaurant just to get it.
