Walk up and down Columbus Avenue deciding which little eatry to try, then picking one and going in. We have never been disappointed, just have found some better than others, but never had bad meal.

Coit Tower.

Tonga Room in Fairmont for drink - ah so tacky but so good at same time.

Ferry across bay to Sausalito is always fun.

1) Cable Car! VERY touristy, VERY FUN!

2) Alcatraz Tour

3) Pier 39 and sea lion 'show'

4) Coit Tower

5) Fortune Cookie place, a little 'factory' off a little alley (name escapes me) Enjoyed a VERY interesting convo with an employee!

We'd also stay at the Columbus Motor Inn again. Good location, free parking, great view (from 3rd floor) and GREAT rate!

1. Second vote for renting a bike and riding across GG Bridge. Continue on to Tiburon and take the ferry back to the city with hundreds of other bikes and their owners.
2. Drinks and dinner at Betelnut.
3. Hike in Muir woods & down to Stinson Beach for lunch. Hike back up and work off lunch.
4. Always reserve a day and go wine tasting. Hire a ride and leave the driving to someone else.
5. See a Giants game. Eat some garlic fries.

More early morning runs from the Hyatt along the Embarcadero area to Fisherman's Wharf. What a way to start the day/tour/get ready to dine!

Second for Muir Woods. What a beautiful area.

Walk, walk, walk and enjoy the neighborhoods along the way. Could never get my fill.

More time in the Japanese Tea Garden and Golden Gate Park.

What will I do differently next trip? Always, but always, carry a sweater with me, no matter how sunny and beautiful it seems at the moment we set out from the hotel. I've never known such bone chilling cold as the cold that accompanies that fog!

*Cocktails in the Compass Rose bar at the Westin-especially at Christmas!

*Cable car at night from the Buena Vista to Union Square the view across the city- Coit Tower- is manifique!

*Section 302 for a day game at Pac Bell
via the Larkspur Ferry.

*Theatre followed by supper at Liverpool Lil's.

*Prowling the shops and galleries on Sacramento Street between Presidio and Divisidero.

Since I live in Sonoma County, I guess I just like the quieter sides of The City!

Damn! Do I really have to wait until Sept. to go back to SF? :((

Ahhhh...Stinson Beach.
One of our "first date" locations. Might say Mrs Kal and I joined the "Sea Level Club". :-X

R5, I've hurled off that very street car after leaving the BV in the early 70s. Ahhhh...memories. No wait...or was that last week? :-?

We did have cocktails at The Compass Rose Room last month. Had a seat by the window and watched the sunset over UnSq.

Took my bike down when Mrs Kal was running the B2B one year and it was awsome riding in downtown SF without having to have your head on a swivel looking for cars.
Nice ride along Embarc/or a run as mentioned too. Sigghhhhhhhhh.
Let's see...if I leave now I can make it to The Wash Bag by.....

We're making a special trip in a few weeks just for the Chagall exhibit at the SFMOMA--check out their website. I lived in S.F. for many years and they didn't use to have such great art shows then. Also, plan to go to dinner at Pane e Vino at Sutter & Steiner. And may meet up with some other Fodor addicts if the timing is right. (Check out Europe chat under are you and addict?)
