What would you do in San Francisco again?
 

You came, you saw, you loved it. What would you come back to do again?

1. Musee Mechanique
2. any and all taco joints
3. Coit Tower in the early a.m.
4. Bowling alley at Yerba Buena Gardens.

and much more.

Spend two more weeks and absorb every part of it again. Tony Bennett was absolutely correct: I left my heart in San Francisco; and the perplexing part is, I don't want it back...

I know I am cheating because I live here but my family in New York always get Pronto Pups while they are here. And I don't mean just one Pronto Pup. They will go three or four times in a week.

What are Pronto Pups?

I'd get another little apt in the Marina and just walk all over the city every day and learn it all over again. It has been many years since I lived there.
I remember some place called the Yerba Buena where I had my first Pims Cup..
I would walk in the fog.
I would eat in that place in Chinatown that is upstairs and the food is amazing.

I live in Southern California and have been lucky enough to visit San Francisco many times.
A visit to Alcatraz is what I would do again.

Eat at Tommaso's, 1042 Kearny St., (415) 398-9696, get a cheap carafe of wine at dinner and then watch the sunset, up the street, at Coit tower. (sigh)

Did it last weekend and I'm ready to go back again.
I'd have to say Alcatraz since I now have a handy dandy digi-cam that I can have some fun with.

Also, as someone mentioned, Coit Tower either at sunset or sunrise.
Oh...cocktails at the Carnelian Room.(Since I don't want my heart to get lonely, I'll leave my liver in SF to keep it company)

Eat great Dim Sum at Ton Kiang (5821 Geary Blvd) and ride the cable car down to the wharf and just explore areas of SF that I missed last time....

Alcatraz, at night this time; Chinatown, to walk and eat; Golden Gate Park, in fog if possible.

Top of the Mark for drinks at sunset.

A hike to Coit Tower, then dinner in North Beach.

WOW! GailLK, how did you find out about Ton Kiang? It is some of the BEST dim sum in San Francisco but usually tourists never find restaurants like that since they are out of the way.

A Pronto Pup is a corn dog...they sell them up at the Cliff House (although I don't know if they are still there since they started the renovations). It is a gooood corndog though.

Mmmmmmm corn dogs, used to eat them by Fishermans Wharf. We would sit on the steps by Ghiradelli and people watch on a summer afternoon.

Please be advised (slyypper) that Musee Mechnigue moved out to the Fishermen's Warf area.

The Crown Room in the Fairmont for Sunday brunch

Best panoramic view of the city - better than the Carnelian Room, the top of the Marriott, Top of the Mark, the revolving restaurant, Equinox, at the top of the Hyatt, etc.

Great buffet brunch as well - so many desserts, so little time!

(ssshh! don't tell too many people! I don't like to wait too long to get a seat!) :)

What I would definitely do again:
*Brunch at the Palace Hotel
*Hike to Coit Tower
*See the sea lions (I find them enormously entertaining)
*Rent a bike and ride across the GG bridge to Sausalito and Tiburon

We really especially enjoyed:

- walking across the GG bridge
- taking the ferry to Sausalito
- going to a beach (I forget the name, it looked across to the Marin headlands mostly) It had tidepools with starfish, anemones, sea urchins, etc. and a beautiful view of the headlands and the bridge
- the view from the Palace of the Legion of Honor - or do I mean the Palace of Fine Arts? - the one that's a museum up on a hill with trees around it where you can look in one direction and see the Pacific and look in the other and see the whole SF city skyline, etc.
- OK, the area's pretty tacky, but we really liked watching the seals at Fisherman's wharf/Pier 39
