Good afternoon! Ok, I guess this is proof that Im new to message boards/forums-Ive seen "DH" many times and for the life of me I cant figure out what it stands for (seems to refer to a significant other or traveling companion)? Please, educate me! Thanks and have a great day!

Dear Husband. I've also seen it for other family members, too.

jlm_mi Jul 29th, 2005 09:46 AM

dear (or insert other, more appropriate, adjective beginning with D here) husband. You may also dd (dear daughter), dw (dear wife), ds (dear son), etc. when people travel with their families. :)

FainaAgain Jul 29th, 2005 09:46 AM

Or "Dumb Husband" if he doesn't want to go where you want to go.

LoveItaly Jul 29th, 2005 09:50 AM

LOL Faina, you behave yourself!!!

Renee Jul 29th, 2005 10:09 AM

LOL!

BigJim Jul 29th, 2005 10:13 AM

I've been meaning to ask this too! Why not just say "H" for husband??? Or "W" for wife???

Cassandra Jul 29th, 2005 10:17 AM

How about 1st H or 1st W? FS = favorite son? UN = ugly nephew? PIASILWDMHOB: pain in the apse sister-in-law who doesn't mind her own business?

suze Jul 29th, 2005 10:19 AM

BigJim, no reason i know of, it's just one of those internet lingo things that has become accepted, like BTW or LOL.

BigJim Jul 29th, 2005 10:19 AM

Hahaha!! I thought these acronyms were only used on those "women" forums like weddingchannel.com, theknot.com, etc., but I see they've been brought over to this forum as well.

Renee Jul 29th, 2005 10:24 AM

Um...BigJim....how is it that you know these websites? roflol!!

Meesthare Jul 29th, 2005 10:56 AM

Maybe BigJim is a female person!

Rachel Jul 29th, 2005 10:57 AM

One of my favs-PITA- Pain in the ... I seem to use it frequently at work

OneWanderingJew Jul 29th, 2005 11:03 AM

Maybe Jim just dresses like a woman--not that there is anything wrong with that ;)

FainaAgain Jul 29th, 2005 12:08 PM

LoveItaly, this would be the last thing on my mind ;) \:D/

Nobody wants to ask what LOL means, huh? ;;)

SAnParis Jul 29th, 2005 12:16 PM

To me it means double-header in baseball parlance.

beachbum Jul 29th, 2005 12:24 PM

Double header, SAnParis? I've always thought designated hitter.

Faina, Have you been talking to my wife?

FainaAgain Jul 29th, 2005 12:27 PM

BeachBum, not yet, but I'm going to share with her what I've been drinking, so you better get into "getting invisible" training, LOL.

happytrailstoyou Jul 29th, 2005 01:26 PM

"DH" means "I like to write in code; whip out your Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring." This, "LOL" and such are the internet equivalent of a cliche--that which is to be avoided in writing.
