Judy-I know what you are going through. Our house is up for sale and we are hoping we can get it closed and moved before it really gets frozen around here. It sure is easy to clean with half the stuff in storage! :-)

Budman-I would like to be a fly on the wall at your house on Thanksgiving.

Turkey in the micowave? How would you fit a big bird in one of those?

We are going to SIL's. Yea! I don't have to cook.

buckeyemom, yeah, and I got the out-laws coming. But, I got lots of wine to drink. ((a)) ((b))

MikeBuckley, thanks for the wine suggestion. WineAnswers.com also recommended Gewurztraminer (Gewurtztraminer? Why doesn't that look right?) or a Riesling. I found a Riesling at Costco that I remember liking, so I'm going with that.

buckeyemom, I get a large turkey in the microwave the same way I get many dishes in it at the same time -- by buying a SuperNuke. If your kitchen doesn't glow in the dark, your microwave is too small.

Lee Ann, I've seen Riesling suggested also. Since there are so many types of Rieslings ranging from dry to sweet, I've never understood such a recommendation lacking that clarification.

Considering that you already know a particular wine that you like, you can't go wrong. However, if the pairing doesn't live up to expectations, don't forget to keep your priorities straight: toss the bird and enjoy the liquid portion of the meal.

Judy, adding my wishes for an easy move!
We did ours right after New Years, perfectly enveloping last years holidays in a frenzy of packing and trying to be festive at the same time.
Is that Fort Lauderdale?
You will be warm this winter too :D
Happy Saturday and have a good weekend everyone!

Buckeyemom and Scarlett, it IS a major pain in the arse. Yes, Scarlett...it is Fort Lauderdale. If any Fodorites are in the area,,,please let me know,,,,I would love to have lunch either out, or at my new townhouse:-).

Looking at the site again, they recommend a slightly sweet Riesling. I bought Schmitt Sohne Riesling; it says it's medium bodied and is recommended with ham.

LOL - that would go over well with the rest of the family!
