The City Museum is a blast and a great place to spend a hot day. It's downtown. There are a few outside things to do but it's mostly inside. At night, there's a bar that attracts locals--Cabin Terrace--according to the website, it might serve drinks all day. It's so unique--go to www.citymuseum.org Did anyone mention it will be HOT...and humid. Or it could be 60 degrees..no one will know for sure until the day before. |
I've lived here my whole life and don't recall any 60-degree days around the 4th of July. Keel-over heat, yes. Jacket, no.
By the way, just want to clarify for the traveller that Imo's isn't a nice, sit-down pizza place like you might find in Chicago or some other cities. It's a franchise with great pizza that is a STL tradition. Just didn't want you to throw on some khakis and plan on a 90 minute meal. Mostly, it's carryout. |
"I've lived here my whole life and don't recall any 60-degree days around the 4th of July. Keel-over heat, yes. Jacket, no."
I read that and thought the same thing. I grew up there and all I remember is that its usually extremly hot and humid in July. |
I passed thru STL a few years ago and it was 107.

I am surprised no has mention attending
a Cardinals ball game :-o THAT is a St.Louis "Must Do", IMHO. R5 |
Absolutely!
Unless they are baseball people (mention it or something related) I don't list it- but it is the primary reason I have gone to St.Louis. |

looks like they will be here July 2-4 playing Arizona. They will be in Cincinnati on July 1. |
I'll be at one of the only STL/SF game on games in SF on April 19. Freezing no doubt ! Better be off to buy my Cardinal hoodie, LOL!

How soon we forget a cool 4th...last year I believe some rain showers rolled through and cooled us off to watch fireworks on the 5th (cancelled on the 4th) with jackets and jeans on. And the other time I can remember is about 10 years ago watching the Webster Groves 4th of July parade while cursing myself for not bringing a jacket. OK, OK, So twice in 10 years....but Dave Murray says that it's going to be another crazy weather summer!

For restuarant suggestions, I'm going to be staying in downtown - we like casual food - nothing pricey or stuffy -- would love to find the "local joint" with a variety of food.
Thanx! |
Is the Pinball and Video Game Museum still there? A real trip down memory lane if you belong to the Pong/Space Invaders/Galaxians/Sea Wolf generation.
|
I've been checking different websites etc, and haven't seen any reference to a Pinball & Video museum - but I'm going to go back and look more! That would be neat!!
|
I believe it close some time ago.

Also going to the concert. Hope you got good seats: I didn't.

I'm reiterating...The Cathedral (Basilica) of St. Louis. You could literally spend the entire day looking at the mosaics. The ENTIRE inside of the Cathedral, including domed ceiling, is covered in 1-inch mosaic tiles. The anteroom alone was mesmerizing. DON'T MISS IT!!!! (If you're claustrophobic, you cannot possibly do the arch...trust me!) In July, so humid...Ted Drew's is a must! Yum!
|
Thanx for the input - I will definitely go to the Bascilica and Ted Drews!
|
Thanx Dweebe - Yes, got great seats and paid $$ for them... I was lucky enough to get a presale code thru Best Buy. Thanx for all the eating tips!!
