Water Temps on Maui

My friend and I will be in Maui January 18 - 26. Can someone tell me what the water temps will be like at that time of year? We're used to the bathtub-like waters of the caribbean and are worried Hawaii water will be much colder and darker. Thanks!

Yes, it will be much colder and darker.
Maui is in the deep Pacific Ocean, not the shallow Caribbean.
Don't go expecting pool water.

We're staying at a B&B - is there any way we could go to a resort like the Ritz and use their pool some days?

I have a question. How old are you?

We just got back from a stay at the Ritz. You definately HAVE to be a guest to use the hotel pools-why do you think guests pay $300+ per night? I would not like it if other people used the pool and were not staying there.Just being honest. Go to the beautiful beaches instead-all public.

What you are proposing is called trespassing and is a prosecutable offense.
If I'm staying at a $300+ a night resort then I'm paying a good deal of money for that pool access.
I catch someone stealing the hotel's services you can bet I'm reporting them and having them thrown out.
