Thanks for the heads up on the Holocaust museum's minimum age "suggestion" and that the museum-goers might be bothered by a small child, even if the child can't understand the exhibits.

My 10 year old son and I spent the week of July 4th in DC and did stay in Crystal City at the Days Inn. We only had to walk about 2 blocks to hop on the Metro into the city. There may not be much to do in Crystal City, but we were on the Metro early in the morning and didn't come back to the hotel until after 8:30 most evenings, and just wanted to fall into bed. The price was under $100. It was clean and the room was quite large. I would stay there again.

I work near the Grand Hyatt. It has a nice interior and is convenient to Metro and the touristy stuff. The trolley goes right by it. It also is near the newest restaurant area.

The JW Marriott is ok too. I'm not sure about the pool for either. I'd visit the hotel web site.

Now here's my question -- what is the rep of the Holiday Inn on the Hill? I may book a meeting there but need to look into it first.

Got a good rate at Capitol Hilton through Travelocity. Tour buses picked us up at hotel and took us to terminal where we picked up tours. Within walking distance of White House. Cleaner than we expected city to be.
Lots to see-tour is great if time limited as ours was. Not sure about baby as our day tour was nine hours, but saw a lot.

I stayed at the JW Marriot ($149 weekend rate) last September. The Marriott is next door to the Willard. It was a fantastic location! Just a short walk from the Mall and right around the corner from the Metro. I also took a night tour (can't remember the name) of DC that picked up/dropped off at the hotel. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby and several in the hotel. Enjoy your trip!!
