I can't remember if Baked Alaska involves chocolate, but if so, be advised that they serve an enormous one at the Oceanaire Seafood room on F street between 12th and 13th, which has good food, good service, in a lively retro-50s (oceanliner) atmosphere. It will look a little formal at first glance, but the service is warm, and business casual is just fine . . .

Thanks! I am so hungry I can't stand it! :D
Dessert is a splurge - I'm trying not to eat too many Christmas cookies so I can go nuts for a couple of special desserts in D.C. Baked Alaska, yum. :) |
I second Ceiba (try the ceviche sampler) and the food court at the Museum of the American Indian. Their menu changes regularly, but everything has been delicious every time I've eaten there.

seetheworld. . . would you be willing to venture to Adams Morgan for dinner one night? One of my favorite places with DH to eat when we lived their was Cashion's Eat Place on Columbia.
I second/third/fourth/fifth/sixth/sevenththe vote for Jaleo. One of our other favorites! I also really like Olive's . . . but given there are several locations, maybe you aren't really interested in some place that isn't purely DC. Are you there now? Hope you are having fun if you are! |
STW, if you'd like a little outdoor quiet time, there's a small ice skating rink across the street from the front entrance of the Willard. You can skate or just grab a hot chocolate and watch. They close early on Sunday nights.

Printing this out and getting excited for our trip tomorrow morning!!
Thanks again for all of your suggestions! :) |
Have any of you been to Jaleo's on Wednesday night when they have the ‘Sevillana’ dancers? The restaurant doesn't take reservations for Wednesday night and just wanted to get a feel for how crowded it might be. :D

The food at Jaleo is great but the service is AWFUL. If you know that going in, you won't be as disappointed. Just laugh at how very very bad they are.

Jaleos in DC only accepts reservations btwn 5-6:30. It can get pretty corwded any night. I've also strolled in at 8:00 mid-week with no problem. I don't think that the Wedneday nights are any more or less crowded. Interesting comment about the service, never experienced bad service at Jaleos. You've gotten some good recommendations of places to eat. Will say we were at Chef Geoff's just last weekend and the food wasn't up to par. Could have been an off day. Have a great time in DC!
