Funny that I find it easier to do Delicate Arch now in my senior years than I did when I was in my 30's. Elevation gain is 480 feet. Here is the National Park description of the hike http://www.nps.gov/arch/planyourvisit/longtrails.htm
I just turned 60 this year and haven't done the hike in a couple of years, but I'm looking forward to doing it again. It's a favorite. Now that you're saving money by staying in motels, I'd stay in Moab over Green River. You don't want to lose the 1 1/2 hours time traveling back and forth to the Moab Area each day. Moab is more scenic and no matter where you stay in Green River you are going to hear the trains because the tracks go right though town. Utahtea |
We are going to stay in motels/hotels all the way and we are staying in Moab. I want to stretch our dollars but our time is also very important. Differant strokes for differant folks. :-)
Our stays are in this order: Vegas, Grand Canyon, Lake Powell(page) Arches, Canyonlands (Moab) Capital Reef (Torrey)Bryce and Zion and back to Vegas. If anyone has motel/hotel/b&b recommendations, please let me know! Thanks! |
For Grand Canyon, look at Cameron Trading Post if you are not staying in the park, for Page there are lots of chains, Moab is generally more costly
