LoriNY - I am jealous - I've traveled to Chicago twice to see U2 and they are fabulous! I wish they would come to Cincinnati but I'm not holding my breath!!!

Ok, I had big hair in the 80's and I'm sure I caused some of the ozone depletion in our atmosphe, but I wasn't into Nelson. And apparently they aren't either now because the current tour is cover of Daddy Ricky's songs and I think it's accustic.

Maybe I'll listen to some Elvis Costello tonight.

I heard on the radio that Bon Jovi has a new album out today!! Rock on!!!

flygirl Sep 20th, 2005 11:21 AM

oh my. I bought an iPod for the trip to New Zealand (looooong flights) and have 2200 songs on it and it's barely one third full. still have many of my CDs to add to it. isn't technology fun?

Great thread! I am taking notes, as we are buying ipods today as anniversary gifts to each other, and I can't wait to start downloading music.

And oh, how I loved the big hair bands back in the '80s... Poison was my first-ever concert, and Warrant was my second. :)

Not to make you jealous or anything, snowrooster, but U2 is in Chicago tonight, and we'll be there!

Up next is Norah Jones' first album. Then maybe the Saw Doctors' Songs from Sun Street.

"Now to go take my drivers test...should I take the Cars album with me?"

Just make sure you have "Here She Comes Again" or "Strap Me In" playing as you pull up, lol.

I love the classic rock with a little Rachmaninoff thrown in. :D

Should I create a standalone folder (or two) for music and movies?

No iPod, and no iTunes since with my dialup connection it would take hours to download anything... :-(

But I wanted to mention the Columbia two-CD "Pop Music: The Golden Era 1951-1975" collection I picked up at the library the other day. It has everything from Frank Sinatra to Johnnie Ray to Doris Day to Tony Bennett to Bob Dylan to Janis Joplin to to Earth, Wind, and Fire. Lots of fun!

My kids got me a mini-Ipod for Mother's Day, engraved and everything. The only problem is, I don't know how to load it - or whatever that's called :D

If anyone has any affinity at all for singer/songwriters or country or folk , you all have got to get John Prine's new one called Fair & Square. By far the best cd I've heard in many a year.

I GUARANTEE IT or your money back!!!

Peter-- Do you mean you might create stand-alone folders for travel-related music and movies? Because--and this feels weird, reminding a Fodor's employee of this--this is a travel forum. I'm not bothered but these unrelated threads, but do you want to encourage them? There are other boards out there, after all, for other topics.

Bronxzilla and Snowrooster,
I met Brett Michaels, about two summers ago after Poison played at the Hard Rock in Orlando.
He was so nice. I had my picture taken with him on his tour bus and got his autograph. I keep thinking "Gee, if this were only 20 years ago" Ha-Ha

poochie Sep 21st, 2005 02:02 PM

I must correct myself. It was House Of Blues, not Hard Rock.

snowrooster Sep 21st, 2005 02:07 PM

Well color me green with envy!!! Oh did I have a thing for him in my teen years!!! I maintain that "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" is a great song!
