Travels with a bathing suit?

I am sure this question has been asked and answered many times and I know it is of great importance to my fellow travelers but well one more time! Where do you suggest I pack my bathing suit? I simply can't seem to come up with a good spot. I can pack it with my travel on items but then I end up with a very hard to handle carry on bag but if I pack it in my checked luggage what do I do should my luggage become lost? My bathing suit is certainly to big to fit in my pockets should my special flying outfit be sporting pockets on that day and I certainly can't trot about the plane with a bathing suit in my hand!!! I have spent much time choosing my bathing suits and wish NOT to have to purchase such a personal item as a bathing suit anywhere willy nilly...ugg! Please help me with this most troubling issue. **smooch**

Why not simply wear it as your special on-plane outifit? Then you won;t have to worry about all that pesky frisking by the security screeners!

Budman Dec 8th, 2004 04:57 PM

muffin, it should fit in with your dental floss. You'll have no problem. **smooch** ((b))

Alternatively, just don't pack one at all. This gives you a good excuse to go shopping. You simply buy a new one once you arrive at your destination, should you choose to wear one at all. Also, you would then have a fine collection so that once you return home you have a special suit to remind you of each vacation.

I had great luck buying a swimsuit last year while we were in Australia! Never say never! But to answer your question, I pack it with my checked luggage... it certainly isn't a necessity for me... I love to shop!

Muffin,
Have you thought about having a few cute things sent ahead? That way you don't have to bother with the hassle of carrying everything and it leaves more time for shopping.

Now I have a bathing suit, travel related question for YOU? When should one schedule their waxing appointment? The day before the bathing suit-wearing adventure or once you arrive? Where I come from, it is frowned upon to be hairy so arriving stubbly is not an option for me...oh my, another thought? Will waxing make me stand out as an American?

Happy Holiday and many **smooches** to you!

I meant it leaves more ROOM for shopping.

I would roll it up in my leather pants, attach straps and wear it as a backpack.

Your bathing suit is probably really small when compared to that get-up I recently saw one of the above posters wearing at the Fodors GTG..talk about obese!

If you are taking a pilot case as a carry on, stick it in the front zippered compartment outside the main compartment. If you are traveling to a warm climate you wear mostly bathing suits during the day on the beach so take like 3 or 4 for variety.

Hopefully your suits are one piece not two piece - cause then you would have twice as many items to worry about. Don't muffins wear paper cupcake cups? Smooches right back at ya.

"Don't muffins wear paper cupcake cups?" ROLFLOL Patsies for muffin!

girlonthego Dec 9th, 2004 03:48 AM

Wear it under your clothes on the plane! This way you can strip right in the lobby of the hotel! That is unless cover ups are required in the main areas. LOL

I would suggest waxing a day or two before you leave. Don't forget to pop a Motrin or a glass of champagne to help with any pain. No you certainly can't go flipping all around the island in a bathing suit with well um an unsightly mess. Good luck and happy waxing. **smooch**

creeping thong, or traditional playsuit, muffing?

FainaAgain Dec 9th, 2004 11:16 AM

Is this a rolled-up bathing suit in your pocket or are you happy to see me?

placeu2 Dec 9th, 2004 11:28 AM

I love the responses suggesting purchasing a suit at your destination!

Poor muffin still has the same question on the return trip...duh! ;-)

Perhaps as a guy I don't understand this dilemma (in fact, I am SURE that I don't). What is the problem with jamming your suit into a ball and sticking it in any available corner of your luggage? Seriously, what is the worst that can happen?

indie Dec 9th, 2004 11:42 AM

bathing suits make you carry on luggage hard to handle? are we talking leather and metal bathing suits here?

Of course the metal would help if the lizards you pet were to get aggressive

**smooch**

I wish I could help but this post is giving me PTSD flashbacks to the time I put a bathing suit in my carry-on luggage
it was the worst thing that ever happened to me.

kimamom Dec 9th, 2004 04:31 PM

muffin, do you also post under the screen name of Scarlett? Just curious. You have similar personalities!

Take a backpack with your swimsuit inside of it. Problem sovled! Thanks for the chuckle!! ***kim*** :)
