Is this in planning for a "40-and-fabulous" celebration??? ;-)
|
Welcome to Car Talk with Click and Clack.
The Lincoln Markk LT is the redo of the Blackwood which failed miserably. Both are about $10K overpriced, but with excess comes exclusivity. If you don't know what the Avalanche is, it sounds like you should be car shopping on a site other than Fodor's. Have another cocktail and happy retirement, GT. |
LOL, I saw a red one of those the other day, looks pretty snazzy for a Truck!
Will you get a truck that has a Hemmy? :D ( I think it is called a hemmy) |
Sorry, that would be Hemi
|
We have a Chevy Silverado that we use for camping, hauling, and so on. It is reasonably comfortable on longer drives. It has a bench seat and I think buckets would be preferable comfort-wise.
Security is an issue as we don't have a hard bed cover. Ours is a snap on cover. I have seen the hard covers with hydrolic lifters so you don't need a lot of muscle. That seems to be the way to go and if we were going to buy a new truck, that is probably the type of cover we would get. |
Michelle, I think that would be more along the lines of a mid life crisis.
No wait, isn't the mid life crisis a porshe or something? Scarlett, I'll be right there to pick up those plants:-D fegedaboudit, I'm not car shopping per se, more so asking about the comfort of pickup trucks on long trips. I've been on a pickup truck tear for a while now. I know the Mark LT is pretentious but hey, I'm celebrating a milestone here. |
JCorrea, isn't the Chevy Silverado 3500 the duely? Thanks for the information. I love trucks!
|
I ate a lot of spicey food over the weekend and I think I'm developing a hemi...anybody wanna drag? :-?
|
In my old neighborhood, a midlife crisis called for a new wife, be happy all you want is a truck :D
|
Dually. As in dual rear wheels on each side. A duely sounds like the argument between a husband and her wife over the car itself.
Hemi. As in hemispherical heads that...oh, forget it. Hemi. Hydraulic. Porsche. Two syllables. This could go on forever. GT, how about the new International CXT? Google it. These trucks are above and beyond the Mark LT. You'll be able to haul and count every single milestone. |
Avalanche is a Chevrolet product. My wife wouldn't know that either but that's OK.
|
Scarlett, I'm afraid that would put my family over the edge if I showed up with a new wife a la Cynthia Nixon!
:-D |
My brother has a Silverado, extended cab and bed. It doesn't have four real doors, two real ones and the two that open after the front doors are open (not explained well, sorry). I've sat in the back and wasn't squished. Able to carry a lot on a trip.
However, they don't usually take the truck on trips. He bought it because he goes to Home Depot on the weekend or needs to buy a load of top soil, or haul the motorcycle. And they don't camp. |
Here in my "neck of the woods" (industry and neighborhood), a mid-life crisis usually calls for (if you're a man) (i) a new wife (and a cute 26 year old on the side), (ii) a Porsche *and* a NetJet share, and (iii) a more palatial complex in Bridgehamton (or the Vinyard or Nantucket). If you're a woman, (i) a really cute 26 year old guy (a la Ashton), (ii) a gorgeous silver Aston Martin and (iii) the less palatial complex in Bridge (or the Vinyard or Nantucket). :D
|
*Vineyard*!! Apologies for typo....
|
and of course that should be Bridgehampton.... see what happens when you type while on a conference call?!?
|
The Silverado 3500 may very well be a duelie (sp?), but that is not what we have. Our truck is a standard step-side.
|
Ha!! you knew what I meant :D
'Porshe or trophy wife' so in your case the choice could be 'Truck or BoyToy'.. I would SO go for the Truck LOL |
I say ditch the truck idea and get a boat and sail (motor) off somewhere for a while... :S-
|
It finally occured to me to go look online at the Linclon Truck since I have not heard of it.
That is not a truck...that is a luxury vehicle. Worried about the ride in a Lincoln...PLEASE! I bet that thing will make the Expedition feel like a Focus on the road. |
