Well Bonnie it was a terrific game really even if you preferred a different outcome. On to game 4 :-)
|
What a game!! Just maybe its over in Raleigh. :-)
|
OMG!!!! Will I ever get this knot out of my stomach!!!! :-d
CAROLINA HURRICANES .... 2 EDMONTON OILERS ....... 1 Way to go, 'Canes! :-d :-d :-d :-d Thank you, Larry, for helping me cheer them on! I believe Lord Stanley is going to have a Southern accent! :D |
Bonnie, in the words of Martha Reeves "There'll be dancing in the streets!!!!!" Go Canes!
|
bonnie,
We have a horse show at the Hunt Complex (next to RBC) that starts Thursday, so we have to get our horses to the fairgrounds Wed. eve. THAT ought to be interesting! GO CANES! :D |
cmcfong, Diana .... was that a sensational game last night or what??? Stillman, Staal, Brind'Amour, Cam Ward ... I believe my blood pressure is hitting all time highs! :D
They'll be coming into the airport about 4:00 PM today; think I may talk my DH into welcoming them home! ;;) Good luck with getting your horses in tomorrow night, Diana! GO 'CANES!!!!!!!!! :-d |
One of my favorite memories was welcoming home the Boston Bruins from the Stanley cup win in 1970. Kissing Bobby Orr! It doesn't get much better than that, but Ward is pretty cute...and cool. His must be the lowest blood pressure in the league! Go Canes.

That last 1:37 last night, with the crowd cheering loudly and the chaos on the ice, was amazing. The Oilers fans are great. I really really really want to see the Stanley Cup enter the arena near 11:00 tomorrow night.
Diana, it should be interesting out there for sure. That place will be a mad house tomorrow night. I picked up a Glen Wesley used stick out at the arena last weekend. I hope he sticks around long enough to sign it for me (next year), but what a great time to retire. GO CANES! TAKE THE CUP! |
The Oilers fans are amazing. I too was very impressed by their unyielding support.
|
The chanting of the Edmonton crowd reminded me of British soccer. "Let's Go Oilers!" in full-throated unison. Edmonton is quite a hockey town. I wish more of the cities of Canada- Winniper, Quebec, among others- weren't priced out of the NHL due to the economics of the game.
|
Bonnie: Game time. :D :D
|
YES!!!!!!!!!! Don't I know it, Larry! :D :D :D
Let's go, 'Canes! :-d |
Darn.
|
:((
|
Well I suppose you can't expect any team in the finals to lay down and die. The Bulls had some disappointments during their run but its how you finish. Of immediate concern are the injuries to Weight and Carr.
|
Larry, I thought the hits on Weight last night were so cheap that it's about ruined the series for me .... I'm thinking they separated his shoulder. I guess I'm a new-style hockey fan, as in thinking it should be about skating and scoring, not about maiming and flattening the opponent to win. I'm sure Laviolette will have some answers Saturday night, but maybe I don't have the stomach for some of what's allowed in the game??? Losing is part of the game, and I accept that, but some of the violence allowed might be too much for me ... :-( You can tell I've come to hockey recently, can't you? :O
|
Actually Bonnie I have followed hockey since I was a kid many moons ago. :D I remember when the NHL had only 6 teams so the competiton was different because there was so much talent then. Over the yrs. aggressive expansion has diluted that and I think the level of play has become more goonish so as a long time hockey fan I agree with you about this. Overall I don't think the play in this series has been too over the top and you see better play and behavior overall in the playoffs I think. Hard play is OK but it has to be clean. Anything can happen in sports so I'll be watching Sat. and cheering for the Canes. :-)
|
Larry, by Saturday I'll be ready to watch again, but I'm glad we have a couple of days off! I'm exhausted ... just watching it all ... =-o Maybe between the two of us, we can help the Canes hoist that Cup!!! :-)
Be sure to read my "If You Travel By Car and Get Bored" thread .... it's a good one! :p |
Boy, that was a major disappointment. The players get another chance and many of the fans get a second chance, although it "may" end away from home. For me, it was like Game 7, and I felt like someone punched me in the stomach when Pisani scored. I leave on a cruise Saturday. I knew the cruise would be close to the end of the playoffs but hoped for slightly better timing. You don't know how much it hurt me to turn over my Game 7 ticket to a friend today because I won't be here. Plus, I will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico Monday night if there is a Game 7.
I still think the Canes can take the next game, but Edmonton may have gained enough momentum to take another game, and Weight is hurting. I don't know if I will live if this thing goes past 6 games. Maybe Eric Staal will save the day. I certainly don't expect the Canes defense to play that poorly again. |
Have a wonderful time on your cruise, Dan! It will either be a great celebration or a good "recovery time" for you!!! I really think you'll be celebrating, as will I, if my heart holds out!!! :p I really, really, really hope that Ward and Weight are not hurting too badly. I think a couple of Oilers may hurt down the road ... although I really don't like the game played that way! :s
Bon voyage, Dan!!! :-) |
