Larry, I think bonnie is a much bigger fan than I! I believe she may have gotten that TV just to watch the games!

The 'Canes are one of my husband's clients, and I have been to games and met the team and coach afterwards. Two of the players go to the same hair salon I do, and I see them in there sometimes. Nice guys.

I'd say I'm more than a "bandwagon fan," but I'm not rabid. ;)

Kal Jun 7th, 2006 06:31 AM

WHAT When did they settle the strike? :-O

Somebody better tell the Pens!!!! :-"

jacketwatch Jun 7th, 2006 07:04 AM

I know one thing. Bonnie is surely a Panthers/Tarheels fan. :-)

jacketwatch Jun 7th, 2006 07:05 AM

Oops! AND HURRICANES!!!!! :D

ncgrrl Jun 7th, 2006 07:20 AM

Go Canes!

Maybe I'm one of those bandwagon fans? But I'll support the home team.

I'm trying to learn hockey, but it hasn't been easy. Those guys are so fast, and well, good. Replays help, friends who grew up watching hocky help, and I'm sure time will help.

With baseball and football, there is a period of time between each play. Easier to learn when there can be more commentary. Even basketball has more downtime.

The Canes have been good to the community. At the beginning of the season they have had 'hockey 101' courses for beginers(no, I haven't gone), but college football teams have them too.

The Edmonton fans (except for one radio dj) have been wonderful. And I'd like to thank Edmonton for bringing the wonderful weather. I won't complain about an Alberta clipper weather system until January ;)

Diana & Larry, I actually bought the TV year before last for the UNC Tar Heels basketball games!!! :p BUT, hockey has become one of my very favorite sports!!!!! And then there's my Panthers!!! :D You can't have too many sports going on for me!!!

Diana, I like to think that the Hurricanes don't have any *rabid* fans, just enthusiastic ones! :-) (As in STILL well-mannered and Southern-hospitable, however excited they get, right? ;;) ) I LOVED it when the Carolina fans sang along with the Canadian national anthem Monday night, then applauded it vigorously. I hope we can be known as much for good sportsmanship as we are for being winners!!!

jacketwatch Jun 7th, 2006 02:33 PM

Well said Bonnie. Sportsmanship. Thats part of the reason I love to golf. Most folks out there that you meet are pretty good at being good sports.

bonniebroad Jun 7th, 2006 07:09 PM

:-d :-d :-d :-d :-d :-d :-d :-d

I do believe HURRICANES just blew through!!! Way to go, 'Canes!!!!!!!!!

bonniebroad Jun 7th, 2006 07:12 PM

Oh, yes, Larry .... the games begin on NBC Saturday night. I'm thinking you'll only get to see two! :D

jacketwatch Jun 8th, 2006 01:41 AM

Looks that way I think. :-)

dan_woodlief Jun 8th, 2006 05:24 AM

Actually George, we normally spit the tobacco on the ice. Given the success this year, you should see the budget for the cleanup crew.

Edmonton fans keep saying they have the best ice, but we are about to send a good old Southern ice storm in their direction. We will see if they have any fight left after last night's mugging.

My favorite moment from last night was getting my daughter to pose with a nice Oilers fan after the game. She doesn't know how much those photos will mean to both of us later. I have to say the Oilers fans have been quite pleasant down here so far.

bonniebroad Jun 8th, 2006 05:41 AM

Dan, that is great that you're having a memorable time with your daughter at the games. WOW! You guys will always treasure those photos. :-) There's an A.P. report out on how well the Hurricanes/Oilers fans are getting along in the RBC parking lot, with the Carolina fans offering BBQ sandwiches, etc. to the Oilers fans. Isn't that TERRIFIC???!!!!!!!!!! ;;)

Are you watching the Saturday game at home or down at the Center??? I haven't decided yet ... :-)

Go 'Canes!!!!

dan_woodlief Jun 8th, 2006 08:12 AM

I will probably watch Saturday at home. Not sure yet. We have so much work to do, since we are leaving on a cruise next Saturday. I want this series over before next weekend so badly. A co-worker and I are almost certainly going to be at the RBC on Monday though if it is a possible final game. As far as fans go, I do miss some of the ribbing between the Buffalo and Carolina fans between periods, but I have met lots of great Canadien and Oilers fans during the playoffs. I admire their devotion and manners. I read on the Canes message board that an Oilers fan was spotted on a Hwy 40 overpass yesterday morning waving an Oilers flag.

GeorgeW Jun 8th, 2006 08:26 AM

I've been told that both Jim Hunt and Jesse Helms have been invited to drink champagne out of the Stanley Cup in the 'canes locker room after Carolina sweeps Edmonton.

bonniebroad Jun 8th, 2006 09:00 AM

GeorgeW, you are more amusing than a barrel of monkeys, bless your heart ... ;;)

dan_woodlief Jun 8th, 2006 05:09 PM

Please don't let Jesse touch the Cup!!!

bonniebroad Jun 10th, 2006 06:36 AM

=D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

GO HURRICANES!!!!!! Let's make it #3 tonight!!!

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

jacketwatch Jun 10th, 2006 11:32 AM

Bonnie: I expect the Oilers to throw the kitchen sink at them tonight but if the Canes get past that initial surge then it'll be 3-0. I think. :D :D Cheers. Larry

bonniebroad Jun 10th, 2006 12:26 PM

Larry, I think you're right!!! :-) That building is going to be rocking, for sure, and our guys will have to play the fans as well as a desperate team! So much fun! I just hope all the 'Canes get out of there without getting hurt. There were a couple of ugly scenes late in that third period the last game.

Thanks for your support, guy!!!

Go 'Canes! :-d

bonniebroad Jun 10th, 2006 06:48 PM

:-(

:-d Oh, well, this just means the Canes will win at home!

See you Monday, Oilers ...

GO 'CANES!
