We love America. We've toured the country extensively since I'm retired and will leave Brussels on United airlines flight to Washington on 9/11 next month. This was planned months ago.Our family and friends are all surprised that we wont cancel our going to the US but we cant let fear govern our lives. We know what fear is having lived through World war 2 as a small boy.Even after the occupation by the germans we were constantly bombarded by V1 and V2 rockets targetting the harbour of Antwerp where we live.My first school years were spend a lot in the cellars of the school after the alarm went off. Most Americans have never experienced that. We live in a world with a lot of discontentment. This can easily lead to anger, frustration and when manipulated by clever warmongers lead to zealots and fanatics and terrorists. What we should be doing more is try to make this world a better place for everyone;also those who are needy.I will always remember the army truck drivers of the Red Ball express parked in my street and we as youngskinny brats begging them "sigarettes for papa, chocolate for me;". I remember them as huge "african americans" asking us if we could get them fresh tomatoes, but even how hard we looked there was nothing left.Lets all hope that the Government leaders of this world will finally find a solution for the wrongs in this world . Greetings from Belgium. Paul. "How happy is he can still hope to lift himself from this sea of error."
