Thinking of all of you in the U.S.A today as I have for the past year. I am a Canadian and a wife of a firefighter. Thanks to all. My girlfriend was one of the people reading names this morning. I cried so hard when I saw her and grieve with her at the loss of her husband.

I'm not usually speechless and yet find myself gropeing for words. I live outside NYC and can't even begin to tell the rest of the world how profoundly the events of 9/11 have affected us. And now I begin to understand that the ripples spread out not only across our country but across the world. The words of support and love that have poured in from our friends across the world have made a profound impact upon us. We continue to grieve our lost family and friends. But somehow it is easier when we know how much the rest of you have been touched and how much you care. My family lost friends from work. My heart and prayers are extended to the rest of you who lost loved ones. Thanks for listening...the sorrow is lessened knowing we all grieve together.

If I could, I'd put an arm around you and offer a shoulder to cry on. I'm not crying today, but feel the need to comfort others. I wish you well, and may we all pass through safely until tomorrow when it'll be time to face new dangers. Lets never lose touch with one another - we all need that love and support. Take care.

This thread has really made me even more emotional. I have been on the verge of tears all day, which surprises me, because I am not directly effected by this, as many of you are, ( my heart so goes out to you and everyone else). I find myself moved beyond words at the wishes expressed above. I also live outside the city. One of my daughters lived in the city for years, witnessed the towers falling,and had frequent meetings there. Her apartment was on Broadway, where, first ambulances came and went through the night, and then the trucks. She will never be the same, not that any of us will, but with the help and compassion of others, the road back will be easier. Last weekend I was in North Carolina, and saw a moving tribute to all the victims. I can't tell you just how moving and comforting it was to see this. I suspect it will be a long time before we take our lives for granted. I am so thankful for what I have, and for living in this wonderful country.

There are no words to say how much these kind words and warm thoughts mean to all of us who live in the United States and here in New York City.<BR>God Bless us all.

On 10th Septmber 2002 I was asked at work to type an invitation to all our staff & customers at the bank here in Wales (UK). When I learned what the invite was for I shed some tears. It was asking everyone to join in a two minute silence at 1.46pm UK time.<BR> This brought back all the awful memories of how we first heard & would not beleive the news of that fateful day. <BR>At exactly 1.46pm on 11th September 2002 all the staff left their desks & joined the customers in the reception area where we all stood and thought of you all in America. The building is glass fronted & it was market day, when I looked out I could see that shoppers & stall holders too had come to a stand still & the silence was observed.<BR>Ours was not the only business to make this request, but it made me feel..... I don't know what the word is maybe unified, no that's not right either. <BR>I just wanted to let you all know that you were all in our thoughts & prayers.<BR><BR>In October I, with my family will be making our first visit to New York & we are looking forward to it very much.<BR>My oldest daughter went to New York with school in February 2002. The trip was planned before September 11th & there was some concern & meeting held as to whether the trip should go ahead. I'm glad to say it did & she and her friends has the time of thier lives. They are now starting to go different ways some to university , new jobs etc but they want a New York reunion. Listening to all she did & saw spurred us on to book our trip. I can't wait see you soon.<BR>
