Thinking of you USA

Thinking of you all one year on - our love and hearts go out to you now and always. It's not just today we remember the 3000 who lost their lives but every day since and all those who lost loved ones and friends too.

amy Sep 11th, 2002 04:08 AM

Lets not forget about the pentagon employees and their families.

NYGirl Sep 11th, 2002 04:32 AM

Thank you and we will remember all the people, in all of the countries, who lost loved ones September 11, 2001.<BR>

2,811 people. We still think of you everyday.

Debby Sep 11th, 2002 04:42 AM

It's almost 8:46. It's hard to believe how much our lives changed in a few short minutes. A year ago today it was impossible to think what life would be like in the months to come. We literally put our lives on hold as we braced for what was to come. As a nation we suffered from collective shock and then anger. We are different now. With all the news and alerts, we are still bracing ourselves for what may come. Life is different now, too. I've been to NYC in the last year, traveled to Europe, and will continue to do so. Life is different, but ...<BR><BR>Debby<BR><BR>Debby

lori Sep 11th, 2002 05:01 AM

Doc, of course everyone at the Pentagon and there families and all lives who were so horribly affected that day one year ago. (never mean to slight anyone. Not ever. <BR>

Jenna Sep 11th, 2002 05:19 AM

All of the turbulent emotions I experienced on this day last year has come flooding back. I'm actually finding it hard to concentrate on work, thinking about the stories I've been hearing of the people whose lives were so directly affected by the terrible events. I am humbled to see how wrong I was to think that a year would make much of a difference.

I know exaclty how you feel.(Jenna) It is like last year all over again. We had a beautiful ceremony here at work at 8:46 a.m. Difficult to work, I know. Difficult knowing all the emotional pain of so many today are going through today and everyday. Peace to all.

I need to share this with especially the folks of NYC but didn't know exactly where or how to do so, and this seemed like a good place. I wrote it shortly after 09-11-01.<BR><BR>September 11, 2001 (title)<BR><BR>The world was forever changed that day, in a more threatening and terrible way.<BR>Senseless carnage and mindless strife, snuffed out the precious gift of life.<BR>We welcome and value different roads, but intolerance delivers heavy loads.<BR>And on that terrible indelible autumn day, God's gift of life was swept away.<BR>Daughters and sons, husbands and wives, sent to heaven by hate and knives.<BR>Who's god promotes such carnage and waste? Desires such bitter vile and taste?<BR>Shame on those who worship and embrace, a god that peddles hate and waste.<BR><BR>The world was forever changed that day, in a more threatening and terrible way.<BR>But God has higher callings for all of us; tolerance, forgiveness, love and trust.<BR>Vulgar and evil deeds must never veer our path; our belief in a future devoid of wrath.<BR>We pray for those swept from our lives; the fathers, sons, daughters and wives.<BR>We pray too, for those of us who survive; the fathers, sons, daughters and wives.<BR><BR>"We ask of thee, our chosen God, to accept our lost ones into your loving realm;<BR>And give us the fortitude to rout the evil condemned to earth and now at the helm.<BR><BR>Guide us to thy arms in the brightest of light, and instill in us your mightiest might;<BR>To vanquish evil from mountains and valleys; from public places and darkened alleys;<BR>Strengthen our resolve to conquer evil but still, leave us with benign good will;<BR>Bless our children through each day, as we avow our hope - please guide our way." ...<BR><BR>Thinking of all of you - in Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, and especially New York City. Thanks for listening, and Godspeed.

As a New Yorker I am thankful for all the support I have felt since last year. I want to thank all those who visited our city, especially in the months after the attack. Your messages of support helped.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. "Ours is essentially a tragic age, so we refuse to take it tragically. The cataclysm has happened, we are among the ruins; we start to build up new little habitats, to have new little hopes. It is rather hard work: there is now no smooth road into the future: but we go round, or scramble over the obstacles. We've got to live, no matter how many skies have fallen."<BR><BR>D.H. Thanks to all. My girlfriend was one of the people reading names this morning. I cried so hard when I saw her and grieve with her at the loss of her husband.

NJite Sep 11th, 2002 11:18 AM

I'm not usually speechless and yet find myself gropeing for words. I live outside NYC and can't even begin to tell the rest of the world how profoundly the events of 9/11 have affected us. And now I begin to understand that the ripples spread out not only across our country but across the world. The words of support and love that have poured in from our friends across the world have made a profound impact upon us. We continue to grieve our lost family and friends. But somehow it is easier when we know how much the rest of you have been touched and how much you care. My family lost friends from work. My heart and prayers are extended to the rest of you who lost loved ones. Thanks for listening...the sorrow is lessened knowing we all grieve together.

RnR Sep 11th, 2002 11:42 AM

If I could, I'd put an arm around you and offer a shoulder to cry on. I'm not crying today, but feel the need to comfort others. I wish you well, and may we all pass through safely until tomorrow when it'll be time to face new dangers. Lets never lose touch with one another - we all need that love and support. Take care.

Reading this thread has closelined me. This day is heartbreaking.

lana Sep 11th, 2002 12:26 PM

This thread has really made me even more emotional. I have been on the verge of tears all day, which surprises me, because I am not directly effected by this, as many of you are, ( my heart so goes out to you and everyone else). You are all in my prayers. Thanks for this thread, thanks for showing how awesome this country is. <BR>Lana

I find myself moved beyond words at the wishes expressed above. I also live outside the city. One of my daughters lived in the city for years, witnessed the towers falling, and had frequent meetings there. Her apartment was on Broadway, where, first ambulances came and went through the night, and then the trucks. She will never be the same, not that any of us will, but with the help and compassion of others, the road back will be easier. Last weekend I was in North Carolina, and saw a moving tribute to all the victims. I can't tell you just how moving and comforting it was to see this. I suspect it will be a long time before we take our lives for granted. I am so thankful for what I have, and for living in this wonderful country.

On 10th Septmber 2002 I was asked at work to type an invitation to all our staff & customers at the bank here in Wales (UK). When I learned what the invite was for I shed some tears. It was asking everyone to join in a two minute silence at 1.46pm UK time.<BR> This brought back all the awful memories of how we first heard & would not beleive the news of that fateful day. <BR>At exactly 1.46pm on 11th September 2002 all the staff left their desks & joined the customers in the reception area where we all stood and thought of you all in America. The building is glass fronted & it was market day, when I looked out I could see that shoppers & stall holders too had come to a stand still & the silence was observed.<BR>Ours was not the only business to make this request, but it made me feel..... I don't know what the word is maybe unified, no that's not right either. <BR>I just wanted to let you all know that you were all in our thoughts & prayers.<BR><BR>In October I, with my family will be making our first visit to New York & we are looking forward to it very much.<BR>My oldest daughter went to New York with school in February 2002. The trip was planned before September 11th & there was some concern & meeting held as to whether the trip should go ahead. I'm glad to say it did & she and her friends has the time of thier lives. They are now starting to go different ways some to university , new jobs etc but they want a New York reunion. Listening to all she did & saw spurred us on to book our trip. I can't wait see you soon.<BR>
