I'm sending my positive energy your way as well. The people of New Orleans and the surrounding area have definitely been in my thoughts - not that New Orleans is ever very far from my thoughts :) I spent a week there almost 5 years ago and in that short time, New Orleans got into my soul. I can only imagine how it is for people who actually live there.
I too had to give up reading the Levys Broke thread - too political for me. I get so frustrated that things get side tracked on political debate when there are so many people who need help to rebuild their lives. As far as I am concerned, they don't have the luxury of time for debate. Lets get people back on their feet, back to their homes and if an "after action review" is necesary, then lets have it later on. |
I agree w/JC, who cares whose fault (if anybodys') it was. Until we can control the weather (Horrors) natural disasters will continue to happen. Let's spend our time, money & efforts restoring a great city rather than wasting that same energy on political rhetoric & finger-pointing. Mistakes were made. Let's hope we learn from them, & do the right thing this time around.

Ssshhhhhhhh....let's not mention politics and bs...let's focus on the people, people.

When I woke up this morning I turned CNN for a little bit. There was a segment about a dear woman who had lost her house and everything she owned. She has been praying for some help from "someone". She is a janitor.
A gentleman in one of the midwest states (don't remember which one as I was half asleep) somehow heard about her. When he was younger he too was a janitor. He now owns a successful business. He sent some his crew (assume he was a General Contractor) down to NOLA and they built this dear woman a new 3 bedroom house at absolutely no cost to her. She is the caretaker of one or two of her grandchildren (she is raising them) He paid for everything. How touching is that? The woman prayers were answered thanks to a man who cares so much about his fellow human beings. And just as a BTW, he is caucasion, the lady is black. A reminder there is more good people in the world than bad people. |
LoveItaly, now that's what this thread should be talkin about! You da best!
