Just make sure your kids don't kick the backs of any seats, OWJ! There will be heck to pay. ;) :D

Roseanne quit her job and opened a Loose Meat Sandwich Shop.

seetheworld Oct 10th, 2006 01:59 PM

So this midwestern sandwich, called "loose meat", is basically ground sirlion? If it doesn't have sauce, what is it seasoned with?

CAPH52 Oct 10th, 2006 02:01 PM

starrsville, hope you won't be offended if I elaborate a little on your response. ;)

That was during the time that Roseanne was married to Tom Arnold who is from Iowa. Apparently, she fell in love with the sandwiches.

Other than salt and pepper, I don't know, STW! Seems to me they're always served with mustard and pickle and, I think, onion. Any Iowans out there, forgive me if I'm wrong! It's been far too long since I've had one! :D

starrsville Oct 10th, 2006 02:05 PM

Not at all, CAPH. I never made that connection. Makes perfect sense! :-)

Tell us when you are landing OWJ and kswl and I will be there with HUGE smiles on! (or at least, try our best to be there!)

FainaAgain Oct 10th, 2006 02:12 PM

Oh, OWJ, my eyes are watery now! Bon First Voyage, girls! And parents!

Did you say "mommy" in front of a mirror :)

Welcome to the world of sleepless nights ;)

I've followed some of your threads and posts , re: awaiting babies - and it is just so delightful to hear such happy news - nothing beats babies going home with parents who will give so much love and dedication - best, best wishes for your first - and their first - trip ! And someone asked recently on this board if after having kids they could still travel....Lainey and Rachel and their parents are proving yes you can !

OWJ: I love my Kelty backpack/diaper bag. An REI buy. It's a great diaper bag, and the zipper is interchangeable with my baby carrier/backpack so I can attach it to the back of the carrier when taking my munchkin out for walks, hikes, and cross country skiing. LL Bean has something very similar. It's also masculine enough for my stay at home dad husband.

Of course, it's maybe not as fashionable as some of the other diaper bags I've seen. I love the Coach diaper bag. :) But I like the backpack style as it leaves my hands free. And you'll certainly need free hands!

So happy for you! I hope you all have a very safe and enjoyable trip home!

seetheworld Oct 10th, 2006 02:45 PM

Gosh, did I just "date" myself with that diaper bag comment or what?? :D

Yes a Coach diaper bag is the way to go. ;)

starrsville Oct 10th, 2006 02:49 PM

Knock off or real, stw? :-)

seetheworld Oct 10th, 2006 02:55 PM

Hmmmm :-?

Happiness is spelled Rachel and Rainey.

Editors, I hope this is okay since the url is listed -

Loose meat sandwich recipe -

Loose meat sandwiches here are made by browning very lean ground beef, stir a lot to break up the meat, add beef bouillon and water, cook until water is gone. Scoop lots onto the steamed bun and serve with both mustard and ketchup plus onions. Should have so much meat that it falls out of the bun so a spoon comes with each sandwich (no salt needs added because of the bouillon).

congratulations!! Apparently I missed the conversation prior, but I take it that you have adopted twin girls? Best wishes and much health and happiness to you all!!
I have two girls who are close in age (1 1/2 years apart) and they have always been very close friends.
Many blessings! :)

CAPH52 Oct 10th, 2006 03:41 PM

Thanks, starrsville! :)

OldSouthernBelle Oct 10th, 2006 04:03 PM

Well, just FYI, all my newly mom friends tell me the only diaper to buy is Huggies - don't even bother with the Pampers. The same with the wipes.

seetheworld Oct 10th, 2006 04:18 PM

OSB, congratulations to you too!! :D

AnnMarie_C Oct 10th, 2006 04:30 PM

We've been out of town, OWJ--looks like I have some reading to catch up on! Congratulations to all of you--and then there were four! What great news to come home to. :-)

P_M Oct 10th, 2006 04:56 PM

Happy travels when you take the girls to their new home!! We expect a full trip report. :-)
