Anyone else out there? (I know you're out there hiding, but now that Katie says Fodors is going to provide favors, maybe we'll get you out of the woodwork?)

sarahbellum Oct 26th, 2007 11:06 PM

Booo, you'll have to change me to a no, as something has come up that's going to prevent me from making it.

artlover Oct 27th, 2007 10:51 AM

enzian,
You must have posted at the same time as I was posting. Yes, it should be fun. Will see you there.
sarah,
Sorry you can't make it. Hope you can next time.

Anyone else?

suspire Oct 28th, 2007 08:17 PM

I can't believe it's this Friday! Does anyone know how parking is in this area on a Friday at 4:00?

easytraveler Oct 29th, 2007 09:14 AM

suspire: I called the restaurant and they said to park either on the street or there's parking "next door for $10". Couldn't get any more information on the $10 parking.

Looking online there's also a parking garage about a couple of blocks away on 3rd.

I believe artlover said that Wann's opens at 5.

artlover Oct 29th, 2007 05:03 PM

right, easytraveler, WANNs doesn't open 'til 5, so hope everyone knows this.

Don't know about parking. I'm going to bus in and let DH meet me there as he's always late anyways :D but there may be on street parking as well as spots by the market if you don't mind walking a few blocks and apparently there's a lot next door.

hipvirgochick Nov 2nd, 2007 09:17 AM

Waaaaah! I'm not sure I can make it tonight unless I can find a sitter last minute. Mine has just called sick. :( Just wanted to let you know for head count...but hopefully I can work something out...otherwise I guess I'll have to wait for the Summer GTG.

artlover Nov 2nd, 2007 10:05 AM

Hope so too!

See everyone else who signed up (and maybe a few others?) tonight!

Kostroma Nov 2nd, 2007 12:02 PM

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. I've felt bad the past few days and hoped it was something that would just pass, but I woke up at 3 this morning feeling very bad and barely dragged myself to work this morning. If I hadn't already been off two days for jury duty, I would have called in sick today. I'm really, really disappointed because I wanted to make it to the GTG.

Will there be another next summer?

lennyba Nov 2nd, 2007 12:03 PM

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but when I said I would be there I had the date wrong...I thought it was Dec. 2. :( I'll be at the Grand Canyone tonight instead. You all have a great time and I hope to see pictures!

kopp Nov 2nd, 2007 12:16 PM

Wishing everyone a wonderful GTG! Sounds like it will be lots of fun.

Along with the great travel stories I'm sure you'll share, here's to new friendships and lasting memories! Cheers! ((D))

suze Nov 3rd, 2007 07:57 AM

how'd it go, guys & gals?

enzian Nov 3rd, 2007 11:13 AM

It was great fun! I had to leave early (6:30) to have dinner with my family. At that point, it was Mr.& Mrs. Orcas, Mr. & Mrs. Artlover,
easytraveler, beanweb, NWWanderer, and moi. Mr. Artlover took photos, so maybe Artlover will post them later.

Wann's was a great place to do this--$4 glasses of wine, $2.50 beer, and great sushi appetizers.

I can't say what Katie's surprise gift was, because the SF GTG will be getting them next week, and I don't want to ruin the fun.

Orcas Nov 3rd, 2007 11:24 AM

Thank you, Katie, for the surprise gift. We will be able to identify fellow fodorites in the airport...I will say no more.

Thank you, artlover, for having coordinated this event. I'd only met one other fodorite before. It was great to meet so many nice fodorites who live in the Seattle area. Plus we were joined by a SF poster, easytraveler, so that was an added treat.

I hope more of you can join us for our next GTG. It sounds like it might involve a trip to a dogpark. We decided we would borrow a dog for this Fodorite Adventure GTG, rather than bring our cat.

It was fun to meet our newest Seattlite, beanweb, as well. We know beanweb will like living here as much as we do. She doesn't have webbed feet yet...(Oops, I wasn't supposed to let her know that happens after a few years....)

NWWanderer Nov 3rd, 2007 01:16 PM

What a fun get together! I really enjoyed meeting everyone and thanks so much to artlover for organizing it!

I look forward to the next one--and as beanweb said, why wait until summer ;-)?

artlover Nov 3rd, 2007 06:50 PM

Oh, I'm so embarrassed, but I haven't had time today to check in. Yes, it was so much fun, and thank you enzian for posting all who attended. ET kept buying me drinks and I sortof lost track. Sorry you couldn't stay for dinner, but I think we would all agree it was yummy and really a fun place. The tuna and tofu tartar is one of my favorite dishes and the octopus ET ordered was a super new surprise.

Yes, I think beanweb is right--why wait 'til summer for another one? Maybe suze or gardyloo (or other Seattle Fodorites who couldn't make this one) would be able to make another one sooner. So I hope someone takes this idea and arranges it.

I'm off to another GTG in SF next week and am really looking forward to that one as well. And I will bring our left over favors just in case. Thank you Katie, for sending them. And thanks everyone for showing up and being so much fun. (I even think we'll be allowed back to Wanns :D)

artlover Nov 3rd, 2007 06:51 PM

P.S. I will try to post the pix DH took once I figure out how to do it...ok, this might not happen soon, but I will try...

beanweb24 Nov 3rd, 2007 07:32 PM

Thank you, artlover, for organizing such a fun evening out. The happy hour - and the company - were fabulous! It was a great way to end my first full week in Seattle.

The dogs will have to wait for summer. But we'll get together again before then. :)

Thank you, Katie, for the surprise!
