The LONG Awaited, MUCH Anticipated Seattle GTG

OK--Here it is, just as I promised Easytraveler. Enzian and I had lunch last week and figured out the time and place:

Happy Hour (of course) 4-? November 2
Wanns
2020 2nd Ave. (Belltown)

So far, there are 5 of us--me & DH, easytraveler, enzian & DH and we're hoping ALL the Seattlites and those of you who will be visiting at this time will

NWWanderer Sep 12th, 2007 11:27 AM

Oh cool, sounds like fun! I will try to make it!

enzian Sep 12th, 2007 12:15 PM

Excellent! Glad you posted it here as well as the Lounge, Artlover.

Looking forward to meeting you, NWWanderer.

Orcas Sep 12th, 2007 01:31 PM

Count me in, God willing and the creeks don't rise (as my boss used to say). Do I have to wear a killer whale costume?

enzian Sep 12th, 2007 01:56 PM

Absolutely! And I shall come dressed as a blue flower.

easytraveler Sep 12th, 2007 03:14 PM

OOOH! A costume party! :)

I'm going to come dressed as a young boy.

Just got my hair cut so short that, with dark glasses on, young girls are casting glances my way - LOL!

artlover: Thanks for all the work you've done to pull this GTG together!

Sooo looking forward to seeing all you Seattle Fodorites! It'll be fun to match a sign-in name to a face!

Can't wait till November!

cmcfong Sep 12th, 2007 03:43 PM

I hope you can convince mms to join you, too. Promise you will take lots of pictures. Some of my favorite posters will be there. Wish I could be with you, but it is a long drive from Pinnacle.....

Fodorite018 Sep 12th, 2007 03:54 PM

cmcfong--LOL! I really want to come, but it is DS bday. But who knows...he may not miss me:D Or they can do another GTG a few weeks later...I will be there for a whole week after Thanksgiving.

Orcas Sep 12th, 2007 04:04 PM

mms, Isn't your son young enough that you could switch days on him? You could post this dilemma on the lounge. It would be a hoot!

Fodorite018 Sep 12th, 2007 04:11 PM

Orcas--I love it!!!LOL!

artlover Sep 12th, 2007 04:17 PM

I'm gonna come dressed as a tennis player! Just went out and bought all black tennis clothes a la Roger Federer. Figured that what was wrong with my game. :D

mms, You should bring DS, especially with Orcas' costume. That in itself will make his bd one he'll never forget!

easytraveler, can't wait to see your haircut, and enzian, can't wait to see your costume too.

So, NWWanderer, how could you possibly not make it now?

And you other Seattlites--come on out of the woodwork (before the rains arrive) and join us for lots of fun!
(DH will be official photographer--he just doesn't know it yet.)

Fodorite018 Sep 12th, 2007 04:20 PM

This just sounds like so much fun!

sarahbellum Sep 13th, 2007 09:09 PM

If I am in town, I most definitely will attend!

enzian Sep 14th, 2007 07:59 AM

artlover----were you able to find black shoes like Roger's, with the little Swiss flag emblems? I want some too!

(but will they go with my blue flower outfit? Oh, dear. . . )

artlover Sep 14th, 2007 10:10 AM

enzian, I'm looking...will let you know if I find some. And don't worry about them going with your blue flower outfit--after all, you'll be in Seattle, not Paris, and "the fashion police" have been on strike forever here:D!

chatham Sep 14th, 2007 10:20 PM

I'd love to attend. I'll need to get a taxi from the ferry. Will I be the only one over seventy? You guys all sound so hip and very young. I'm just an obese Granny who loves to travel.
Joan

suze Sep 15th, 2007 08:26 AM

chatham~ not to worry, everyone is welcome & we're not as young as we sound -haha
:-)

Orcas Sep 15th, 2007 08:33 AM

But we might be as hip as we sound!

Fodorite018 Sep 15th, 2007 08:37 AM

Age is just a number...and we are only as old as we feel:)

easytraveler Sep 15th, 2007 09:06 AM

chatham: I will have a rental car and will be happy to pick you up.

Which ferry? Can you give me more specific directions?

Also what will you be dressed as? Whale costume is already taken. So is enzian flower. So is tennis player.

enzian Sep 15th, 2007 10:08 AM

Joan---are you coming on the Bainbridge ferry? Wann's isn't too far; if it doen't work for easytraveler to pick you up, you could walk up to First Ave. and take a free bus north to Lenora. Wann's is on Second between Lenora and Virginia.

chatham Sep 15th, 2007 10:33 PM

Yes, I'll be coming on the Bainbridge ferry. Thanks so much for the offer. My son will be coming with me and we'll get a taxi up, maybe if it's easy for us to be dropped at the ferry after that would be good, but I'm fine with a taxi. I could come as a tent and my son could come as Omar. He's half Greek so he could pass as an Omar and I won't be a pup tent.

What fun, Joan

artlover Sep 19th, 2007 09:32 PM

In case anyone gets lost, the phone no. there is 206-441-5637.

easytraveler Sep 20th, 2007 09:40 AM

artlover: First "Sleepless in Seattle"

now "Lost in Seattle"

Hope they don't happen on the same trip! LOL!

chatham: Omar and The Tent? Sounds fascinating!

I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone on this GTG! :)

artlover Sep 20th, 2007 09:17 PM

easytraveler,

NWWanderer Sep 22nd, 2007 03:12 PM

It's on my calendar and so long as I'm in town on Nov 2, I'm planning to be there...but not in costume, sorry ;-).

artlover Sep 24th, 2007 04:23 PM

Oh good, NW, I will put you on the YES list!

Anyone else out there?

suze Sep 24th, 2007 06:30 PM

I didn't say maybe, only because I've got guests in from Vermont that weekend.

artlover Sep 24th, 2007 07:09 PM

Suze,
You could bring them...we're pretty friendly :D

TahitiTams Sep 24th, 2007 08:51 PM

artlover..
Aren't you the one with the vacuum story?

easytraveler Sep 24th, 2007 10:44 PM

artlover: weren't you coming as a tennis player?

Why are you coming as a vacuum?

suze Sep 25th, 2007 06:51 AM

Thanks for the kind words, artlover.

Wann's is a GREAT place for those of you who haven't had the pleasure yet. I was there for the first time after work a couple weeks ago. Very nice.

wildblueyonder Sep 25th, 2007 06:58 AM

Oh what fun! Count me in! The only places I've dined in Seattle have been 2 different McD's, the food hall in Westlake Center, Ivars on the Waterfront and a Seattle's Best Coffee somewhere! Oh and the doughnut stall in Pike Place Market!

Please send airline ticket to Wildblueyonder, UK. Much obliged! :)

easytraveler Sep 25th, 2007 10:48 AM

query, query:

would it be possible to drive over to Bellevue after a night at Wann's? Or should I find lodging downtown?

What's the freeway situation, BTW? Is I-90 undergoing construction?

Decisions! Decision!

wildblueyonder - You're always welcome! artlover will send her private jet to pick you up!

FainaAgain Sep 25th, 2007 10:58 AM

Not for this GTG, but for the future, if anybody can go to Vancouver, I'll be there one day only on June 7 Saturday on a cruise.

suze Sep 25th, 2007 11:16 AM

easytraveler~ Sure it'd be very easy to drive to Bellevue. I prefer to use I-5 north then onto the 520 bridge. It shouldn't take more than 20 mins. or so later in the evening.

easytraveler Sep 25th, 2007 12:05 PM

suze: thanks for your reply! I''m going to go make my hotel reservations now!

Thanks again! :)

suspire Sep 25th, 2007 03:02 PM

Hey! I just totally happened across this by chance! I would love to come! If enzian is coming as a blue flower and Orcas as a whale, I shall come as a deep breath or sigh. Hm, I wonder what that looks like?!

See you November 2! I'm so glad I found this thread now - normally with this sort of thing I would have found it on November 3!

artlover Sep 26th, 2007 06:59 PM

easytraveler,
LOL :D
Actually, I haven't been able to find the black tennis shoes with 4 (now) swiss flags on them yet, so I might just have to come as myself. (BTW, I e-mailed you some info re. your query, did you get it?)

wildlueyonder,
come join us, I saw some great fares this time of year on airfarewatchdog.com!

suspire,
Great. Will put you on the YES list.

Anyone else?
