LOL, Statia, I can hear those wheels turning, you are thinking of how to surprise your husband with a trip to Las Vegas :)
|
I surprised my husband with one when I said to him in October, "we're going to LV in December"!
|
Darn Scarlett...you're onto me. Actually, it's the whole penthouse idea that I'm REALLY thinking of. :)
|
Scarlett is good!!! I will tell you what I found out about the penthouse deal... If you book at Bellagio not only do you get limo service but you get VIP Check in, in a separate room, fresh flowers everyday I think, but if you book on a off time, when you get there in the VIP Check -in you ask to be up-grade to the Cypress Suite which is higher then the Penthouse. (I didn't know there was anything higher) But if you look at bellagio from out side, its the top round Part....Cool!!! I'm going to try to upgrade and I'll let you know....what the real penthouse or cypress is really like!!!
|
Just make sure that your room, or suite, faces the fountain. And make sure that you tune in your TV on the fountain music chanel and watch the fountian at the same time. The fountain motions in synch with whatever music they play, and that is every 15 minutes. Sometimes it is opera, pop, classical, holiday. It is something quite unique to the Bellagio. Also be sure and check out the common lobby, with the glass cieling. It is awesome. There is a drink that the Bellagio serves called a "cable car" with Capt Morgan spiced rum, sweet and sour, and a cinnamon/sugar rim. Delicious and can only get at Bellagio (I think).
The Palm is also a good restaurant. Also Emmeril's place is good (MGM, I think). Good food is all over LV. Have fun. |
Thank you Heavens....the drink sound great!!
|
If you haven't already purchased your airline tix, you might want to know that USAir is running a promotion where first class airfare is only $500 from many east coast cities to Las Vegas. Given that typical advance purchase fares from the east coast run $350 or so, this is a pretty good deal. Normal first class fares are considerably higher.

I believe ALL the penthouses overlook the fountains.
That glass ceiling is by Dale Chihuly from Seattle, they have a gallery with some of his work, go through the Conservatory (that will amaze you!) and look at his glass works..I wanted them all! |
"Luck Be A Lady" to the fountains tears me up.
|
Me too!!!!
The song from Chorus Line isn't bad either :) |
36 more days to go!!!! i can't wait!
|
Hey Surpriser,
Sounds like a wonderful trip and a great surprise for your husband. Having recently returned from 4 nites at the Bellagio, you couldn't have picked a better hotel. Just a word of advice, though. Pack warmly....it gets mighty cold at nite. Just looking at weather.com, the avg high for mid-Jan. is 60 and the avg. low is 28....brrrr!!! Have a wonderful time! |
Thank you Doug......Yes I better pack warm, We Floridians have thin blood, LOL
|
You are so awesome!! Make sure and let us know how everything goes when you get back.
Here's another vote for packing warm. We had snow on the mountains to the West this morning- about 10 miles from my house. I'm freezing!!! :) I second the vote on Prime for a dinner. We went for our anniversary last year and everything was perfect. The steak was sooooo good and the waiter brought us dessert with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate. (Anything in chocolate is great to me!) Between all of that and a table right by the fountains, the night was magical. Since you have most of the logistics worked out, my advice is to have a great time! Make sure and bug your concierge if you need anything- by staying in the penthouse, you're one of their priorities! |
10 More days!!!! I'm getting nervous!!
Hope I can play it off!! |
We were in Las Vegas mid-December and had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Prime. Where have you decided to dine?
|
Surpriser---I have to tell you that your husband is going to be thrilled. One would think that guys are not all about this, but my then boyfriend, now husband was so happy when I surprised him for his 45th birthday. I am soooooooooo glad I did, you will be too. Enjoy it! And if he finds out in advance some of the treats, don't fret, it sounds like you have several things planned, so it will be great. I will just ad one thing to the great suggestions above... Roy's without a doubt is one of our all-time favorite restaurants. Enjoy it if you get a chance! Bon voyage!
