Strip House steakhouses

On Open Table yesterday I was surprised to find we now have a Strip House in Naples (Fla). It's at the Naples Grand Hotel. I had heard the one in New York is great. And I know there's one in Las Vegas. Any comments before I go drop the big bucks to try it out? Should it really be worth the money compared to other good steakhouses?

(I do have 3 Open Table certificates for $50 each, so this seems like a good use for one or more of those).

LOL, Patrick! When I read this I thought "Strip House" as in
( . )( . ) !!!

beachgirl -- LOL!!

NeoPatrick Aug 24th, 2007 12:22 PM

I think that's the idea. I know the original in NYC has a "bordello" decor of red and semi-pornographic pictures on the walls.

But clever key work, BeachGirl. Can you make them twirl?

Went to The Strip House in New York a few months ago.

Ribeye was perfect. Their black truffled cream spinach was to die for.

Perfect evening except the seats were way too close (NY thing).

Interesting, f and b. I read through the New York reviews and several mentioned how for New York it seemed so spacious. But like all such things, the reviews were very mixed.

The general consensus seems to be that the best bet is the namesake "New York Strip".

I thought the same thing as BeachGirl! And, there was an article in the NYTimes not too long ago about some upscale steakhouse that is also a nudie bar, so it isn't too far off!!

frank_and_beans Aug 24th, 2007 12:37 PM

Since it was my first trip to NY they seemed way to close for my taste but apparently that is standard procedure for NY.

The decor is as you say burlesque but not overly so.

The goose fat potatoes were excellent as well.

It was a really great meal and I try to go to a steak house on every trip I take.

Beachgirl, I'm so impressed with your talent!! If you were here, I would give you a huge tip for giving us that desktop dance. $-)

Now I must ask--Are those real?? ((a))

Patricia_Green Aug 24th, 2007 04:00 PM

P_M and BeachGirl, are you two best friends? If not, let me introduce you. You two are always full of surprises! :)

P_M Aug 24th, 2007 04:05 PM

How very kind of you Patricia. I had the pleasure of meeting BeachGirl at the Houston GTG, and I hope to see her again soon. :-)

starrsville Aug 24th, 2007 04:09 PM

I would have to imagine that I'M Claudia's best friend. We travel in the same circles.

Regards,
Elle

P_M Aug 24th, 2007 04:10 PM

Hi Elle. I have several best friends on this board, and of course you are one of them. :-D

pssssttt....For those who don't already know, I am actually Claudia Schiffer and starrsville is Elle McPheerson. We post to this board incognito, so please don't tell anyone. We mustn't blow our covers.... :$

Never been to the Strip House, but there's a wonderful tapas bar in Austin (Louie's 106) that I like to frequent.

Tapas bar is plain as day when written, over a crackly cell phone it sounds like something different.

Those of you who know Texas (PM) know how every town has many of the other variety.

JRP Aug 24th, 2007 04:21 PM

Dear El and Claud,

Fear not blowing covers. With parentheses like BeachGirl's, you're barely noticeable.

starrsville Aug 24th, 2007 04:24 PM

Oh, JRP, you have OBVIOUSLY not met us :-D
