St. Louis-hotels
 

Trying to plan our first trip to St. Louis, would like to know if anyone has stayed at the Hilton at the Ballpark? wondering how the view of the fields is? Are there any other hotels that have views of the ballpark ?

Nobody out there? Any information would help. Thank you.

In April I stayed downtown at the Hyatt (formerly the Adam's Mark Hotel), a few blocks from the ballpark. No views of the ballpark from there that I could tell (but my room had a view of the Arch right across the street). If I were you, I'd dig up the Trip Advisor reviews of the Hilton and contact a few of reviewers and just ask them about the views.

You might see the stadium from the Millenium Hotel. I'd call the Hilton, Westin, and Millenium to inquire whether you can book a ballpark view room.

I've stayed at the Hilton at the Ballpark two times. It is across the street from the new Busch Stadium. In fact, the new fan area in the outfield is directly across the street from the hotel. If you have a room on a higher floor, you can get a view of the park through the outfield. I would recommend this hotel.

The Hilton is the best bet for views of the ballpark. Another great hotel just across the street from the stadium is the Westin.

A very nice and very reasonably priced hotel a couple of blocks from the stadium is The Drury, downtown St. Louis. In an historic building, great evening cocktail hour and breakfast provided. Excellent service, too. Not sure about actual views of the stadium, but some rooms must have them.

So why do you need to see the ballpark from a motel? We've stayed in the downtown Holiday Inn which is a short walk away and found it a good place and reasonably priced.

You can get Union Station Hyatt on Priceline
pretty cheap. I've stayed there 4-5 times, for
$50ish plus tax and fees. This hotel is blocks
to the stadium. Union Station wall the train station
in St.Louis and is a fun place, minutes from the
stadium! I recommend. Been there. Stayed there.

Union Station Hyatt OK but a bit of a long walk from ballpark.

For those of you that asked "do we really need to see the ballpark?" yes!! The reason that we wanted to stay there was we are from the pacific northwest and we have been lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fans and we are almost 50 and we have never been there, so this is a trip of a lifetime for us to finally get there and get to see "our" team. So we just wanted to experience as much of the ballpark as we could since that is our main reason for going there =). Thank you all for your suggestions. This trip is all about the team and some good places to try the local food. Also, does anyone know about a place that Ozzie Smith is supposed to own and is sometimes seen there? and any other places we have to try? we love barbeque, but have never had it other than here, which means we haven't had "real barbeque" (ha, ha) Thank you for any suggestions.

Ozzie Smith does own a restaurant but it is not downtonw - it is an area called Westport - Maryland Heights. It is Ok - I would not go out of my way to go - Albert Pujols also owns an eatery in this same area - a little ore upscale, but nothing great.
Try Pappy's - it near Lindell and Grand next to STL University - Great BBQ.
I will try to think of some more local places to expereince!

He's the former Cardinal 3rd baseman and has been the radio announcer for the Cardinals for 25 years (approx).

Also Jim Edmunds has a restaurant downtown called F15teen. Not sure about how successful it's been.

The Central Westend offers some unique and fun restaurants with great cuisine.
Herbies on 405 N Euclid - is a bistro type atmosphere - a favorite amoung St louisians. They have a great Happy HOur too.
Scape is one of my favs -it is on 48 Maryland. It has a great patio in front and back and offers great food-

In south city there is Frasers Restaurant and Lounge - it used to be called Frasers Brown Bag.

Shannon's restaurant is quite expensive, in case you were not aware of that.

Duff's in the Central West End is a local favorite, with an interesting menu of relatively healthy dishes.

I thought you wanted baseball themed restaurants. How far afield from downtown/Busch stadium do you want to eat, and what type of foods and price ranges are you looking for? I think we could help you better if you gave us some additional info.
