I really don't see what is so funny Witty, I am asking a serious valid question. I am not familar with SW Airlines, it does not come into my area. I think I have seen it in other hubs.

I agree with the fact that Southwest Airlines should have assigned seating. It's a royal pain in the a-- to have to wait in a second line at the ticket counter to get a boarding pass. I occasionally fly Southwest from SJC to Reno, and for a short flight it is not bad. I could not imagine going cross country with more than 2 stops and no meal. They say they serve a snack on flights of 2 hrs. or longer, what is their definition of a snack? A large bag of peanuts instead of a small one with so few peanuts that they barely take up the entire space on the cocktail napkin? That being said, I would definitely agree that Southwest does keep fares lowers on the larger carriers. Airports such as Philadelphia that do not have Southwest typically have higher fares than BWI or Long Island Islip. I am a loyal American Airlines flier, and with their more room throughout coach and great service, I have no reason to switch. American, by far, has the most legroom in coach of any domestic airline. United has a similar campaign of more legroom in coach, but I discovered it is a ploy. There are only limited seats in coach that have more legroom, and it is offered only to frequent fliers and you have to pay extra for it.

I live in Dallas and so Southwest has been great. All airlines however, cannot be all things to people. For me they offer affordable rates. I also just want to get there. Now if you are traveling on business I can see why it may not be so convenient. Usually my timing is not so great so I am usually the last group to board. It is kind of funny because when I get on all the window seats and aisle seats are taken. Most of the passengers have this look "Don't you even think about sitting next to me".
Now on the other hand I also travel on American. I like having an assigned seat. There is more legroom. I just wish that most of their flight attendants had a better sense of humor like those of Southwest. I think individuals have to decide what they want cheap or convenient or sometimes cheap and convenient.
